Let's make things simple: there's clubs that book DJs like Jason and have beautiful crowds that love the music, and then there's the other 70% of EDM-related venues that no1 from here would ever want to go to because of the shadiness factor... The US has its meth problem as you go inland, and they have their big drug problem too, which just happens to go very hand-in-hand with EDM in the past decade... Imagine if Made Event was the only legit promoter in New York, and all the People NYC's, Massive's, Basic's, Melting Pot's, Giant Step's were all run by big-$ drug dealers... Not saying Jason's wrong, he's completely correct to a certain extent, but there's a whole facet of "the scene" there people don't understand, and as booking agents get more acquainted with the promoters they're involved with, it may be a reason as to why (like I said earlier) many gigs have been cancelled over the past year....

Ask yourself, WHY are we talking about this? Because Carl Cox is involved... Otherwise, it would have been just another shooting in the local news in some parts of South America... I know because I've been there, and away from the resorts and tourist areas, much of it is third world. Having family there and having been there many times doesn't make me the 100% know-it-all of course, but Jason playing there often doesn't make him either... That's what an intelligent conversation is, it's not "ignorant" like you say, it's just exposing other points of view. Ignorant would be if I said "all those Mexicans should stay out of the EDM scene."... dig?

+1 Marcello.....I follow you the whole way.....and after reading your posts I decided to do a little research of my own and found out real quickly that you're right......there is some shady ass going on down there and it very well could be the reason DJ's are canceling gigs. I read a story about a fire that broke out at a night club and killed 40 some people.....they said all the fire exits were blocked from the outside so people couldn't get out once the fire was started. :nervous:

If remember I think it was 2 years ago that Steve Lawler>? (not sure)was playing at some club in Mexico and finsihed his set and then was forced by the owners (Mexico Mafia connections)to play encore. He treated and played and got the hell out of there.

I don't think the killer came back....if you watch the video closely you can see the people crowding around the body in the back before they all run away. As somebody said before.....they were probably running because the police were coming and are far more dangerous that the person who killed those people. Just imagine if you were there......wouldn't you wanna get the hell out of there before police stormed the place with weapons drawn and ready to take down suspects?

I do, but it all depends on Tae comping me. :p :D ROTFLLLLLLLLL. Actually, Ive had a bad back for the past week or so and will get an MRI soon to make sure its nothing serious. I will be back in action soon once I get better.

P.S. Im looking forward to a Steven Neill all-inclusive NYE party somewhere with the local TAs and usual heads. paying $100 to go to some cheesy club to hear some god awful DJ spin (DT, Tiesto, any other greedy DJ looking to rape ppl at the door on NYE). I say a Sunny Side Up NYE party is exactly what would make for a good NYE event imo. Either this or dinner. Cant go wrong with either of these man. ;)

Reading a blog from Venezuela with many comments from people that were there.... Apparently, this happened at a Picotto party in the past year two, same exact scenario, same promoters.... Apparently, no media in Venezuela has even mentioned the incident...

One guy goes on to say “Este es el reflejo del país que tenemos: un país sin ley” - "this is a reflection of the country we have: a country without law"....

Another guy says, "Decir verdad ese ambiente que se vivio ayer luego de los tiros es el que se vive a diario en caracas venezuela. no creoq ue se permita hacer mas evento de este tipo donde deberia reinar la paz y el amor. que mielda!" - "To tell the truth, what happened at last night's event is what happens everyday in Caracas... But like that shouldn't happen at this such event, where it's all about love and peace!".....

And yet another person says, "Definitivamente la seguridad en Venezuela tiene un destino incierto. Una vez mas la desgracia invade al movimiento electronico de nuestro pais por culpa de irresponsables que nos hace daño a todos." - It's definitely the security in Venezuela that is so shaky... This is just ANOTHER disgrace to the electronic movement, thanks to more irresponsible promoters that ruin it all."

- "Yes it stinks, but it's understandable, considering this was one of the biggest drug fests I've seen in a while (lists all the drugs she saw being used and sold)... When you have a promoter telling the security directly to be lax with the drugs, I'm sure they were lax with the guns too."

I hope these statements help give you a view from people from their own country, and how they view things... Trust me, I'm not disagreeing with people because I'm a prick and like to, I just know that things aren't always what they seem to be in South America.

Anyway, it's sad that music that's supposed to bring people together, is the backdrop for such a horrific thing... All disagreement and debating and opinions aside, that must have been a nightmare, hope this leads to better things, like increased security, for future parties and clubbers...
