ok first off i didn't want to post this in the music discussion forum because although it is discussion of a genre of electronic, i am a producer and want to hear what other producers have to say. ive been making trance for about 4 years now but am starting to really get in to some of the electro house stuff. i want to know if you guys think this genre is just a fad or is it here to stay? it seems to be the most popular thing played at any EDM event. i can see why. its so damn danceable. for me as a producer i like it because its a relatively new genre and its still open for lots of experimentation. should i devote my time to electro house production or should i stick to tried and true genres? how far along is electro house in its life and how long will it last?

want to know what you guys think

thought it was really cool at the beginning but just like every trend everyone started making it and it just got saturated with bad . I think there are some really good tracks but too many djs that play this music only ever play that music and it gets real old. I suppose you can say that with every genre I think it adds a colour to the mix but if you only use that colour , it all starts sucking big.

i'm waiting for the " this is electro house " samples to start creeping into songs. Oh , i better dance because this is electro house.

There is a lot of electro.

I think the Australian market delivers significantly less crap than America. Europe isn't too bad.

Ok, so I just read the actual topic...

LOL

Piku303, you are never going to be famous. Stop dreaming and do what you find the most enjoyable.

Ah, genre hopping... it's nearsighted musicianship, and ultimately a nasty creativity-killer.

from a production standpoint, i think its introduced some really good tricks and in that regard has helped the whole spectrum of dance music but the music itself has drifted into 3 note basslines.

i think what thomas gold and darren mase are doing is class but the field is very saturated right now so its tough to get noticed
