This thing is a gimmick, DJs mix music, leave the visuals to the professionals who actually know what the they're doing...

sander was doing some awesome stuff with it. i think this is a really good opportunity for dj's who don't want to do live keyboards/drums/whatever to "liven" up their shows.

What exactly was the extent of this "awesome stuff" and was it any better than what a pro VJ could do?

hmm, i think i see your point. your saying why make the DJ control visuals when there is clearly someone better to do it.

but i think you're looking at it wrong. the days of dj's just spinning records are approaching an end, i think a lot of hardware/software develops realize this hence the video manipulation, tons of fx on things like traktor, ableton etc.

not all clubs have VJ's and not all DJ's want visuals. i guess in the end if the DJ handed the VJ a DVD it could work the way you speak but i think this is a cool creative approach to a dj's show, so to speak.
