Dude, you're gonna love Philly.
The scene is not as big as the MD/DC/VA area, but the kids are tight and we all know what's going on in the area. Parties are pretty cool, and mainly with the same groups of friends.
We have a crappy Trance scene, but we have some great DJs coming ot town all the time. Hit me up when you get here.

it really depends on how you define a rave..
a line-up of DJs on an all-night party of 2000+ people? not in a club but outside or in a warehouse? illegal?
anyhow.. I remember a party in Europe, on a secluded beach, set-up sound and light system, 7 DJs, 3500 people, 1am-8am.. it was techno and hard house all night.. but it was pure madness, we went swimming around 6ish.. awesome experience.
But I haven't been to any real raves in Toronto 'cause they banned them when I started going (well, when I moved out of home and was allowed to stay out all night :D) |

Ive been to some pretty good raves and a few no so well organized ones. They are pretty good, but the scene in calgary is ruled by a bylaw, therefore, prices for tix are way up than before. Ive never been to a club though, however i have heard that there are more drugs and not enough women there. The raves here play a lot of hard house, which im pretty sick of, but do enjoy it once in a while when im in the mood. Otherwise, calgary is a pretty housy city.
DjShockwave: are you talking about defstar, honey productions, eternal, or katalyst?? what was the name of the party? |

| No offense but wayyyy to many younguns. I cant just go and drink and chill and listen to music I gotta have 16 year olds who can barely drive poppin drugs and F in it up for the rest of the people who are really there to just let the music roll over them and be tranced out with friends. Too much people goin for a little action instead of reactin to the music. I get pissed when a rave gets shut down at 2 am because of too much drug use. If you are gonna be messed up outta your mind go sit in your room with a black light and a radio. People now think oh you listen to techno? Do you do drugs? The music is the drug. You shouldnt need anything else to trip your mind out on a journey. [/rant] *eyes come back into focus* sorry I go a little crazy some times. :clown: |

Man when you think of a rave dont think about a stinky warehouse party. Our raves in vancouver are head al convention centers with thousands and thousands of people. If your image of a rave comes from the TV then you got to check out a real massive.
So much more fun partying untill 9am instead of the music ending at 2am.
Oh and the mainstage always has Trance and Hard House headliners |

| So i have a questin then having never been to a rave (went and saw PVD and BT last december but it was commercial and not really what i would consider a rave) or experimented with drugs. What is the deal with the pacifiers? |

No offense but I think a lot of people don't even know what a rave is. Large organised parties are not raves, if it's legal it's not a rave.
I've only been to one party I'd class as a rave. One night after Slinky we were told to go to a Little Chef resteraunt just off a motorway leading out of Dorset. When we got there we found it backed into a forest and was right in the middle of nowhere. Some guys had set up a soundsystem in the kiddies playground :p. By the time we started clearing up at 6am about 70 people (a small crowd for a rave but still :D) had turned up, needless to say the manager of the Little Chef wasn't best pleased when he turned up and he called the police, but by the time they got there we'd all had a tidy up and cleared off. That was a quality night :)
The funny thing was, there was also a petrol station attached to the site and it was 24hr, the guy working in it was sound as and kept filling up buckets of water for everybody to fill their bottles from.
Ah how I wish I did the rave scene when it was at it's peak in the UK. But I was too young then and into Nirvana :(
Jimykik: it varies. For some they're just part of the cyberkid or candykid (not the same thing) outfit, others use them to stop themselves biting their mouth to shreds when on pills/speed/other stimulents. It works better than chewing gum because gum may help with the mouth-biting but always gives me one ****** of a sore jaw in the morning. I think for most, it's a combination of both. |

hahahaa! thats amazing... been to a rave before it was halarious, at first i thought it was a commercial party. then i realized it was a RAVE when i saw like people bringing in there own NOS (laughing gas)tanks... what a night too bad most of the times RAVEs are either cracked down by the cops or in lousy locations. |
