Can personally attest this is a pretty decent very large-screen rear projection TV.
But if it can be done and you have a little money, I suggest you get it professionally calibrated. It can make a world of different on rear-projection HDTVs!
Amazing how this TV would cost thousands of dollars when it first came out just a couple years ago and no matter how good of condition it's in, you have to sell it for such a low price if you want to move it.
BTW, can personally attest that if you can deal with rear-projection DLP, this is a real good TV if you want a super large screen. Know some people who will deal with slightly lower clarity if it means a larger screen. |

I was trained to Semi-Pro calibrate and ya it made a big difference.
Funny thing is this TV had an original MSRP of $5099 when it was first released.
This Friday Circuit City will have it's 65" successor for sale at $1499, which is an amazing price.
I loved this unit, had no complaints.
I just got a Sony KDS60A3000 SXRD at Frys last wkd for $1599! Looks unbelievable with the PS3 and Blu-Ray. So glad I went this way, lost 2" but gained so much!
In closing, I think I just made a deal with my sister to take it. |

I am THX Certified Level II Technician. I can calibrate your whole system, really important to get the original effect intended by the director. |

Got HD-DVD too.. PS3 = free blu-ray
Blu-Ray is way better from a user standpoint. HD-DVD has a lot of problems loading and stopping during the movie, takes over 1 minute to load. The PS3 pretty much loads instantly and the picture is better as well as the sound. |

About the picture / sound... it really depends on the studio. At WB, we re-use the same compression for both formats... so for example the movie '300' on HD and BD are quality wise are exactly the same. the HD has more cool features because none of the BD Java programming works right.
yes, the earlier generations of HD players were a tad sluggish.
sorry to hijack your thread. I need a huge ass TV ASAP~! |
