Actually, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, which is part of the U.S. Treasury Department, prints dollars. |

hate to interject but you can get all the info on how the federal reserve and the government coincide with each other and how it all works via the internet. and with a more complete run down of the whole thing too. |

You've got it backwards. The US Department of the Treasury prints a dollar, then sells it to the Federal Reserve for the price of printing. Furthermore, the Fed offers collateral in the form of gold and US treasury bonds equal to the amount of currency that it holds. So I don't see where you're basing this criticism. |

Yes, I think that her point was that in that "documentary" the information is twisted to fit a broader point about conspiracies to loot the American people of their hard-earned dollars and freedoms - it isn't necessarily accurate. |

yeah. i havent ever seen the movie, but i have read a bunch about how the fed works and what not. its a bit skewed but some of the older articles are more accurate since they arent taking advantage of the anti-bush social climate. |

Yeah, it's certainly not a perfect system, but it's hardly the sinister evil that some people in PDD would have you believe. |

Oh yeah?
The reason for all these problems is 9/11. |

well i think in its current incantation its very corrupt and needs a full restructuring, but since it is a private company there isnt much that can be done at this point. i do believe in federalising the fed and making the leaders publicly appointed or something to that affect. i still have a lot i would like to read but its something im still pretty unfamiliar with in regards to forming opinions about what i think should happen. |

Crude oil and gasoline (petrol) supply and demand are two different markets (within the energy market). Gasoline must be refined from crude oil. I don't know about Australia, but a possible cause of your high petrol rates could be...
1. Taxes; Some European countries tax 50% on gasoline.
2. The gasoline inventory in Australia is low, meaning less gasoline for the Australian markets.

no, our prices are completely relative to oil prices. yes, we have an excise tax on petroleum, but its not that expensive. our inventory isnt low either. |
