did you not notice that the first word in that post was "I"?
some things you ought to just not bother typing |
Ya, the post started off with I and then you went on to say that ableton isn't fun compared to decks, not "I find that ableton isn't fun compared to decks".
And you're right, somethings I shouldn't bother posting, like this:
I'M NOT A MIND READER, and from a grammatical standpoint, your post was unclear.
Also, I suspect this frustration is all because of my dinner music comment, ease off dude, if one person's opinion gets you this much in a huff maybe you should consider a different hobby.
And what's dumb is, it was never meant to be insulting, but you appear to have taken it that way, which sucks. |

I keep leaning more and more towards selling my gear since I really do want/semi-need a laptop.
If worse came to worse I could walk away from mixing for a while until I have enough money to support it again.
I'll most likely be hocking it out on ebay in a week or two and pending how much I can get for my stuff, then I'll sell it. Basically it's all coming down to whether or not I can pretty much afford the specific macbook I want (or come damn close to affording it) strictly from the money I get by selling my gear.
I noticed that an X-Session MIDI controller is only $130 so I could get that a few months later for my birthday. |

Any monkey can do that. The main part of DJing is the songs you play and they way you play them. I've seen a bunch of highly technical DJs who seriously lack in track selection, and I've seen DJs who are fairly sloppy but play amazing music |

It really isn't hard to beatmatch. Just because Oakenfold and Tiesto can't doesn't make it hard :p |

I'm fairly sure both of them can beatmatch well if they really want to. |

I was in a similar situation as you expect that I started with Ableton and moved onto CDJ's. Ableton was cool, but I prefer my CDJ's much more since its more "hands" on and its just plain cool seeing someone mix on decks rather then mixing on a laptop + mixer.
The only thing I could really see being better in using a laptop and ableton is the fact that its more easy to carry your stuff around. |

| Ableton is cool but it isn't really a replacement. It is more of its own thing. |
