[Review] TGE @ Avalon w/ DJ Eco, Martin Roth, Eddie Halliwell, and John O'Callaghan (pg. 2)

Got to the club and some bouncer tells me he wants to bring me to the front of the line for no apparent reason. weird, but fine by me judging by the line that is around the freakin corner. Then we get up front to see a bunch of TA's who had been in line for an hour plus. wtf?! :wtf: This makes no sense to me since there wasnt a single freakin person in the club. I mean, we had some early to see marcello (and so did a LOAD of others), and here he was playing for a crowd that was waiting outside a damn church, rather than on the dancefloor. weird. :rolleyes: Anyways, by the time we were let in, his set was practically over :( marcello and I have no luck. :whip:
The music was on point the whole night. I have ZERO complaints about any DJ. The energy was super high, just the way I like it :) (too bad my body was at like 50% after working all day....that was my only huge negative of the night!! lol) I DO need to hit up some techno soon, tho....you can only hear so much trance for weeks in a row..........
And wtf is it when the brit DJ's come to town? When Eddie was on it was like a female hormone fest. All I heard all night was: "Omg Eddie we looooveee you." and some more explicit that we wont mention here. :haha: I was seriously concerned (esp with the rumor that he was slightly in pain) that he would enter the crowd and be raped by da swooning ladies :haha: Patterson has some competition :) :) haha! anyways, to end the night, JOC really surprised me, I loved the energy and he and eddie had me dancing HARD for a while which led to my slightly early departure. haha sorry JOC, I couldnt hang ;) I left arounf 4:00, prolly only a few minutes before everyone else.
Moment of the night was seeing GHB singing his lungs out to a classic trance toon......bwahahaha! I wish I had a in camera. \
Also, as usual, got totally hounded by the bouncer staff....what else is new? haha....I was telling wai, it would be some sort of day when a white guy hits on me....hahahaah! ;)
anyways, I just wanted to give a HUGE shout to mah TA's. Seriously, you kids are just so amazing, and I am realizing that more and more, the longer I have been in NYC. I mentioned in a thread that I was having temporary financial probs with the death in the fam and a LOAD of unexpected costs popping up, and within 24 hours of that post, I got 5-6 offers from people for comps or offering to pay out of their own pocket, etc...wow!!!.....and when I got to the club people were insisting on buying drinks and making sure I was ok (per the death...). A huge thanks to steven and sheila....you kids are sumthin fierce :) Thanks again for being so considerate (and massive mike, too, for making sure there were no probs) :) <3 respect!! :) |

| OH... MY... GOD... EDDIE OWNED. ing love him! Incredible night. I had a smile on my face the whole entire time while he was spinning. Great night, great set by all. Can't wait til Eddie comes back again! |

Nah, he played stuff outside of the trance genre as well, im just saying as a whole it didnt do much for me. But its all good, everybody has diff. tastes. Eddie rocked it out and played some good stuff so I cant complain. It was good seeing him rock it out though. |

| Yeah, as much as I love my man Martin and the other DJs I like, Eddie's in a class of his own... Everyone from the people seeing him the first time to the MANAGEMENT were just amazed... He's going no other direction but UP. |

| Why does it sound so cool when a British DJ gets on the mic and speaks to the crowd?? I felt like I was at a Radio 1 Broadcasting when Eddie came on, was a great touch indeed!! |

DEF ONE OF THE BEST PARTIES THIS YEAR!
So I was the loser that got to Avalon around 8:30 and had to go to a burger place near by to kill sometime until they let me stand on line. I'm sad I missed out on Eco's set - esp seeing some of the tracks he dropped early on in his set while we were prisoners outside. Gmoney, thanks a lot for spotting me that ticket - it was nice meeting you and you threw down a nice mini set at the end (I left to get my coat during More To Life and they didn't let me come back, but it sounded good).
Roth surprised me... I was not expecting the Deadmau5-ish proggy sound in the beginning or Your Loving Arms - but it was great to hear Off The World live and that Beautiful Things Remix!!!! I took plenty of videos, which are importing as I'm typing this so I'll have a cuddly tracklist in a few.
I've never seen Eddie live before, but he tore it up! DJ of the night goes to him. I thought the atmosphere was one of the better ones I've seen - I actually wasn't the only one singing at the top of my lungs this time lol. There was more room to dance and I couldn't stop taking videos of the glowstick robot guy - reminded me a lot of the Glowstick puppet from Pvd back at Icon during new years a couple years back! RIFF, Sound oF Goodbye - Chagall Remix and several others got everyone bumping!!!
I was glad to see JOC for the first time also and he had a few surprises as well (Home - Club Mix). All the dj's did a great job, just wish the crowd could have stayed packed a little bit longer, but it was turkey day eve/turkey day and I know some people had really long commutes today (Baltimore much - Molly? :P).
It was great bumping into some TA's and finally introducing myself - good energy, good times! BTW what was up with all those cranky cabbies at the end of the night :P!!!
