Somewhat off track: Are NYC tickets worth fighting?

So, I just got a speeding ticket for driving 73 in a 50, at 6:30 in the morning on the way to work. The cop actually asks me if I'm racing the other woman that he pulled over. I'm thinking to myself... at 6:30 in the morning? I'm lucky to be able to operate a moving vehicle let alone race. This is all pre-coffee, btw...
So anyway, I can either pay it (6 points - $150 plus possible $300 fine rumored to exit for anything 6pts or above) or fight it (lawyer is $350 flat fee but nyc does not plea bargain, but they can either fight it and win, or delay it long enough so that the points don't actually hit my license.
Any thoughts? Any similar experience? For those wondering if I'm a bad driver, I've never caused any accidents, and I haven't had a ticket in about 5 years now - I was keeping up with traffic and consider myself a good driver.
Thanks for any advice it is appreciated! :thepirate :thepirate :thepirate |

fight it!
If you can pay a little more but get no points its worth it in the long run. |

| 6 points is one nasty hit....I would prob fight it.....as long as you don't have to be present in court because taking a day off work for that is another factor. |

if you fight it you have to goto court for it but its def worth it IMO even if you lose, you can have the fine & fee reduced. |

fight it by yourself
don't waste money on a lawyer..there sometimes more leniant if you show up yourself, least in my case that happend. had a 4 pt ticket reduced to a minor parking violation..only had to pay like 150 bux. my friend got a lawyer and he reduced his 4 pt to a 2 pt and had to pay a load more not including the cost of the lawyer |

| I had one for 82 in 55 and I fought it. I went by myself, no lawyer. I think they seem to be more lienent just for you showing up. They changed it from 6pts for speeding to 4pts and they said I was tailgaiting. So I'd definitely fight it. I unfortunately got a $115 parking ticket the other day near Avalon. Dumbass me, lol. Thought I could park there... |

| If it's in Staten, don't fight it. The judge here NEVER reduces fines or points. |
