There doesn't really seem to be a qualification group of death this time around does there? Hmm...England seem to have an easy time and should at the VERY least finish 2nd if they can fend off the Ukraine. But I won't be surprised if they don't qualify given last week's events.
Anyway it doesn't matter. I predict no European team will win the 2010 World Cup since it's in South Africa and will be hot as a mother******. Brazil or Argentina will probably win it. |
The cup is going to be played in the winter there ;) |

it'll still be around 30 Celsius and maybe with humidity as well. It was hot as hell in South Korea and Japan too...any time it's not played in Europe usually the European teams have a hard time. In my opinion the games should be played at night when it's cooler but try telling that to FIFA. |

Average looking groups, and I must say there are some underestimated teams there that will cause some big upsets I can just see it. I'd say the most trickiest group would be group 1, so random and mixed and how come Sweden always end up with Denmark?
Italy have a rather bland group which shouldn't provide the sweat of what we just went through although Bulgaria and Montenegro can be threatning.
Also seeing Scotland surpass this campaign, if they almost survived a group with France,Italy and Ukraine they will only be stronger, hungrier and more dangerous than what they already were.
Germany run fairly easy, England in a tuffie and Spain could struggle a little and no doubt Romania will give the Les Bleus a fair crack.
'Till then bring on EURO 08 :D |

doubt it to be honest. France should dominate that group but the real interesting matchup should be us against romania |

I agree, France isn't good now, as they used to be...
But, there isn't any group of death, so I believe that there shouldn't be suprises like last week. It will be interesting to watch, definitely.
EURO first :p |

LOL we play real football here in Texas in 40 Celsius. If the euro teams can't sack up and deal with the heat they deserve to lose.
That's just like the article someone posted that said how England can't practice tactics and skill because their average wind speed is 15kmph but Italy's average wind speed is 10kmph so that is the reason Italy has more tactics and skill. |

For starters real football is the type played all around the world with a round ball and 11 players on either side, using your feet. The sport you play is "american football". Which is a in stupid name because only one player on either side actually uses their feet to play the ball.

American footballers are lucky if they have to run 100 yards during a game and they get plenty of rest in between.
Professional footballers are running upwards of 10km per game with very little rest apart from half time.

I don't have a in clue what article your reading but i'll gaurantee you wind speed has nothing to do with the tactical ineptitude of england compared to italy - and no one i've ever come across on this continent thinks so either.
it's widely acknowledged that italy, france, spain etc have more technical skills because of the way the young are coached.. |

You might think that we don't run that much in real football but the reality is that people die every year from running too much in the heat during two a day summer practices.
And what about the cross country kids who run at least 10 miles not 10 km every day in the same weather?
If you're a pro soccer player and you can't run 10km in 40C you deserve to lose.
Here is that article I was talking about. And I agree with you wind speed is a bunch of bull. Just like the heat.

while they do get breaks in between plays, the vast majority of players run way more than 100 yards a game (I'd estimate roughly around 300-400 yards on average, and that's being VERY conservative) all while wearing around 10kg of equipment a game
as for the World Cup qualifications, I'll pay more attention to it after the Euros |

| This draw seems very similar to the qualification groups for Euro 2008. Group 2 looks horrificly weak (sorry Greece). I'm glad Germany is in the same group as Wales, as I can see them play here hopefully but wish Sweden or England was drawn from pot 2 with them. Ah well. When do these matches start? Fall of 2008 or early 2009? |

| Slav HEAVEN! in group 3. LOL talk about stadium skirmishes and riots. Put all the Eastern European hooligan countries together in one group. Thumbs up from me. |
