| Man this movie was amazing imo. One of the better horror movies I have seen in quite awhile. It really isnt a monster film so much as how people tend to react in general during a crisis and how man returns to primal instincts when their lives are in danger. This movie def deals with the darker side of man. Especially when hope starts dimming the process of their psychological breakdown and their ultimate turn on each other in desperate attempts to appease the creatures. Ending was point on too. If the movie ended any differently I probably would of been disappointed. Just a great movie leaving the viewer with a ton of emotions. Only critique was that the effects of some of the monsters at point were on the raw and unrealistic side, almost looking cheesy in the sense. best example, scene with tentacles and norm. If you like horror movies then def see this movie. |

couldn't have said it better. the ending definitely moved me, the loss of hope is traumatic in itself; the realization that there was hope after all is even more so. |

Man, first time the tentacle ripped some pieces out of Norm, I was like :eek: :eek: :eek: I honestly thought the movie was PG-13 when I went in to see it. :stongue: I was really quite wrong.
Spot-on with every observation. I was able to look past the effects - I didn't think they were really too bad at all. Especially considering the true monsters of the movie were the people, not the extra-dimensional critters.

I had no ing clue where the ending was going. I was expecting him to wake up in bed screaming, the whole movie having been one, big nightmare. It was truly ing tragic and I'm not sure I agree that there was indeed 'hope after all'. Perhaps the shining light of order and a return to 'normalcy' comes through, but really, what faith and hope could you ever cling onto in life after having gone through all of that? |

Yeah, that was sort of loose end (pun intended???).
Like, there really wasn't a reason for it to melt, was there? I don't remember - did they shine the light on it and it melted or what? Kind of strange. I should probably read the story... |

Maybe I was a little unclear. The peeps in the car lost all hope and so took the next "logical" step. But at the end there was hope after all if they just hung on - but they had no faith in whatever (humanity, their future, i dunno), and the ending didn't have to go down like it did. that's what makes it so tragic. the fact that none of it had to happen if only they hung on for a bit longer.
the irony is that at the end they accepted their "fate" as predicted by the religious bitch, no? she prophesized their ultimate doom and it's almost like they believed her. in the end the religious bitch still won because she infiltrated their mind and undermined their hope, in turn causing the final scene to transpire.
had they not encountered her would they continue to survive? i mean what would be so wrong with living in the car for as long as you can hold out? |

Ooh, good point. I didn't think about how they sort of did exactly as she said they would. But I think that's because of what I said earlier - most of the major themes int he film are left quite ambiguous. In that respect, I didn't view her preachings as actually some sort of prophecy - I just am not the type of person to have faith in her like that, I suppose. I mean, she 'foretold' that more people would die that one night, but really, does it take the channeling of God's eternal wisdom to predict something like that? :stongue: Maybe that's just how I view religion - as one, big series of coincidences stemming from conveniently self-fulfilling prophecies; it's just really basic psychology, it seems - but people fall for it. But I ing love that one can take different, valid views of the film. Truly awesome. |

I watched it yesterday and it was alright not scary but still i would give it 6.5/10......
The lady holding the bible and preaching was annoying I felt like killing her myself LOL haha |
