Wow, that's pretty bad taste :(

I feel like some of you truly hold the same beliefs that Trey Parker and Matt Stone were making fun of in Team America: World Police and in today's information age, the only thing I'm ashamed of is being a member of this forum where people can be so bloody ignorant and refuse to scratch the surface of an issue because of their immature, subjective, and emotional reactions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a robot; I believe an emotional reaction is totally acceptable, no matter how profane it may be, but I would expect something intelligent to eventually come out. Unfortunately, from some of you, nothing does.

While I appreciate everyone's views in this thread I must point out that the punishment handed out is pretty mild compared to what would have happened to this teacher for the same act in 15th century Europe or 1st century Judea. Both Christianity and Judaism went through periods of extremism and fanaticism.... interestingly, both when they were approximately the same age... maybe this is just a symptom of reaching 1400 years of age for a religion. My point is none of the Abrihamic religions can claim any moral superiority here. Who knows maybe there will be violent athiest extremists in 1200 years.

Can't say it any better than these two. +1

Is the jailing of this teacher unfortunate? Yes. Does it justify mocking an entire religious structure? No.

Your right to flail your arms about stops at another person's nose, and that picture more or less smacked several TA members in the face. So when they call you on it, you retaliate by saying THEY are intolerant? Grow up and gain some perspective.

lol dude, appreciate your words. But some of us are immature and create flame threads in response. We don't ALL take the moral high ground! :toothless

haha, so you're comparing 21st century islam with the 15th century? sounds about right! and i think they can claim current moral superiority, however that could be more related to the liberal democracies that judaism or christianity now find themselves a part of, rather than an inherent superiority in belief system.

at the end of the day, such punishments just arent acceptable, no matter who meters them out.

Although there is no ban in the Koran on images of Allah or the Prophet Mohammed, likenesses are considered highly offensive by Muslims.

Mohammed looked like a teddy bear?!?!

How does anyone know what Mohammed looked like anyway? You can't create a likeness if you don't have anything to go on...
