Given as much straight road as you need, you'll be limited by:
Speed limiter / governer
Engine RPM limit
Not enough forward force supplied by the engine at a given RPM (torque translated into friction force by the tires on the road) to overcome rolling/wind resistance.
And if you want to argue something like 'It's HP not Torque' then realize that torque that is causing the angular speed to increase is doing work and the generated power is what we call HP. HP = (torque x RPM)/5252

For me? Appx. 145 MPH at California Speedway, limited unfortunately. I don't really care for potential hazards that an uncontrolled public road offers. (I would have said something different several years ago). But, if I wanted to... I could go a factory rated 177. |

Wow, lots of BS in this thread...
I am familiar the owner. He's smarter and richer than any of us so he can do whatever the he wants. In fact, he is a very cool guy, he made his money in the PORN industry. If he has the balls to do 220, more power to him. Unfortunately, he is only doing 200 MPH, the Lambo speedo is 10% optimistic (they are required by law to read this way, look it up).
IMO this is safer than most grandmas in parking lots... |
