Being Agnostic it is difficult for me to understand the sanctity of religous names/figures/symbols...

But loving children as I do, I can not fathom chastising a teacher who encourages children to use their imaginations (even if most imagine the same thing).

*"She is a teacher and should be teaching her pupils to be respectful and have morals but instead she is doing the opposite," said Mohamed Toum, a law student.*

I disagree. She is a teacher...she is teaching the children to think for themselves. I know being a citizen maybe she should have been wise enough to exclude the name Muhammed.

But in my eyes

I put my kids in school...of MY choosing. If I disagree with what is being taught...MY child WILL hear it from ME.

RESPECT/MORALS that 'parents' expect their own children to hold dear SHOULD be taught at home.

Not surprised by this... considering the Sudanese regime has killed over 200,000 of it's own people, raped it's women and displaced over 2 million into poverty and dispair, what's a few lashings for a teacher who names a bear Mohammed...

Hopefully this wakes Britain up to being more than just a spectator the the bull that's happoening in Darfur.

same penalty could have happened if it happened in other more conservative Muslim nations, not just Sudan.

though gotta love BBC for getting an attention to an issue
