| It could be several things, it's probably a ty cable that shorted the battery and ed up your motherboard. It happened to me before, due precisely to a ty cable. This doesn't mean your motherboard is entirely wasted, just that the module that charges your battery is fried. |

The battery was pretty ed anyway. Even fully charged, it would last maybe 20 mins.
I think I might just buy a new laptop. It was kinda old. |

Yep, that appears to be the consensus in the household (gf just got back. lol).
Getting a new laptop anyway, because I'll need one this weekend, and don't want to risk not being able to fix this one tomorrow.

When they used to give me laptops for work they'd got a bit 'bleh' and whenever I heard that there was budget for IT I used to just fire it up, drop it on carpet a lot few times and presto!

Take the battery out then plug the cable in. Does it boot? If yes, then your battery is ed. If no, then it's the cable.
Or your laptop is ruined :o |
