French dude wants to come to the US

Hello fellow TA's
I was wondering if you could help me out here. I want to come to the US for a month and I haven't decided where I wanted to go.
So I said to myself "why not meet some fellow trancers from the other side of the planet?"
Do you know where I could find cheap accomodation anywhere in the Chicago region (not West Coast, sorry delobbo :)), preferably in a city with a nice music scene (Chicago would be great but Indianapolis can do as well)
Let me know if that sounds either possible or totally crazy.

i think downtown hotels are pretty pricey, but i wouldn't recommend a hostel

yea to be honest i think something near by vision wouldnt cost less than 200$ |
