Well seeing as i featured this remix on my radio show the other night as a 'past classic' i had to create a thread dedicated to it and a few mysteries i want to find out about it..
http://www.discogs.com/release/3488
IMO its one of the most underrated trance remixes ever, dating back to 1999..no one seems to mention it on any forums - but i think thats partly due to the fact that not many have heard it cos it only featured on a couple of compilations at the time ('Gatecrasher Red' & 'Dance Nation 6')
Surprisingly,'Alfie Conn' is apparently an alias of Peace Division (Clive Henry & Justin Drake),who did a remix aswell of 'Touched by God' under that guise,so they actually did 2 remixes of this track. It doesnt sound like their style at all - Peace Division had a very deep, proggy style.
(This is according to Discogs, and i dont actually believe Alfie Conn was Peace Division...the Peace Division remix sounded like it was by totally different producers..)
I was just wondering how many people on here have actually heard it,and knew anything more about it...and where that female speech came from in the Alfie Conn remix as it wasnt in the original?
The original is regarded as the '4am with Pecker mix' - which had the male 'we are together' speech from an old Primal Scream track.. |

I'm so glad somebody else notices the amazingness of this remix, such an awesome tune!!!
I dont know where the speech sample is from but I'd like to know as well.
Got it twice on vinyl, played the original one so much it crackles like a bitch now, thats why I have 2!
I dont know who Alfie Conn is, Discogs is a reliable source of info so..... |

I just cant believe its Peace Divsion tho..if i was placing bets id have to go for Katcha himself atm.. :p
The producers behind Peace Division were always very proggy & deep, cant seem them making anything remotely like the Con remix. |

Perhaps thats why they used a guise like Alfie Conn so people didnt know it was them and ruin their 'cred' with their usual 'fan base'.
What a remix though, fan ing tastic :-) |

yeah they are similar, probably why i like the melody so much back then heh,it still doesnt answer my questions if Peace Division actually did produce this remix, and where did the female speech come from..
Just cant believe so little people have heard this, judging by how many times the actual release has been mentioned over the years on forums.. |

definately one of the best trance anthems. the original sucked balls. and i remember this because i bought the vinyl #1 after hearing it on a ministry cd. the cd had universal nation, gouryella and durango - durango 95 on it. mixed by tall paul if i remember. the tracklist did not say 'alfie con rmx' on it. just 'katcha- touched by god'. also, the vocal sample during the break is not on the original mix. I never got round to getting the disk #2 but recently heared the con rmx on a regurgitated gatecrasher trance compilation about a year ago.
one of the best tracks on hooj during the glory days. |

Very underrated track this, excellent work. One of the few true 'dreamy' tracks, for want of a better word.
Its on Audiojelly anyway, probably elsewhere too. |
