So your label masters your tracks for you?

btw name the remix... I'm game.

Both my releases were mastered by the labels (Gesture and Armada), ya. The fee got deducted from pay, think it was in the neighborhood of 130 euros, so basically the same price as what Anthony is paying for his guy.

TBH I didn't notice much of a difference between the mastered version, and the mixdown run through a hard-limiter, but perhaps I'm just ignorant.

What's that topic
Good track, right sounds, good mix. That's all.
If the label like it... they will mastered it.Keep your money! It's not your job!

I'd tend to agree w/ this.
A good, balanced mixdown is necessary prior to even considering a mastering session.
Having said that, a professional mastering engineer can really bring out the dormant portions of the track to give it an extra edge.

If you're signed to a small label, might as well get the mastering done yourself and send the final mastered version.

If it's a big label and it's likely they'll do it themselves, send them the unmastered version. They may deduct it from your fee.

Either way, you end up paying.

not that i agree or disagree with the topic but...

saying that your last 3 were mastered and signed is not a valid argument b/c how do you know they wouldn't have been signed had you not mastered them?

you'll recoup your money when you sell it to them.

so...a bit personal but, did you make 495$ off of your last 3?

I'm not getting involved in the pissing contest... or the back and forth about whether one should master or not. simply answering the original question:

Sony Music Studios in NYC. You upload, they master. $99 a song. That's harder to beat than a sore wiener.
