Haha, werd. There's too much to be angry about in the world not to try it. :gsmile:

I wish it were mere emotional reaction that bothered me, but it isn't. Perhaps I am a very deeply engrained misogynist of sorts, but I suppose the issue doesn't seem restricted only to females, though they express it the most often.

It's peoples' adherence to prescribed lifestyles. That is to say, people expect things out of life and so they seek it in other people. I hate it. It is limited and stupid. Perhaps they can find a sense of happiness in settling down and spawning, but it irks the out of me. And then they bring all these expectations to others and make them conform merely to live out this socially-approved "dream". Oh, and then things go inevitably awry and people aren't able to cope or are disillusioned or are bitter or even worse - they don't learn a thing and do it all over again.

And why?

Because television tells them how relationships and families should be. Because the transmission of culture has reached a Judeo-Christian rut and people can't quite break out of their atomic morality. , I'll just stop right there. :stongue:

more than television. listen to some of the crap out there. the stereotypes propagated in songs sung by females themselves are just ridiculous. then they turn around and ask "why can't women be equal?".

I agree with all of that.

Exactly.

Magazines, songs, television, media, advertising, etc... All of it merely perpetuates our culture of happiness, where people are encouraged to live overindulgent lifestyles and feel and look only the ways in which they are told. Is it a new thing? Certainly not. But it keeps people in these cycles so that they do nothing but keep on consuming, and that irritates me. I really wish I knew why.

Am I saying that love is a bad thing? Certainly not. I feel quite the opposite. I am, however, quite skeptical of most people's "love", as I have seen it as nothing more than naivety and wanting all too often. Love isn't something you make happen. You can't just one day fall in love. That's why it's so ing rare. But people try to force it and irritate it and make it more than what it is. They imitate ritual in hopes of garnering feelings of desire and mating appeal - which they may very well succeed in, but that's really not love, in the pure sense, if such a thing even exists. It's still just imitation.

Yeah, but you've had your relationship for what? Several years? I bet both of you have grown up together in many aspects. You've been through hard times and great times and you've faced doubt more than once. You've been tested and tempted and both of you are still together and devoted? You've earned it.

I'm really not in a position to say what "real" love actually is - I just know when it isn't. Infatuation and longing are telltale signs of something that just won't last. I look back on women I have loved - really - but I do not feel that same way I did for them. It's not limited to proximity, either - some things just do not last forever, and accepting that is not "giving up", but realizing that what you expect out of life has little to no bearing with the reality of things. Nothing is ensured to you. Ever.

Big in plus one to that. So many times I seemingly fall for girls, then a few months down the line wonder what it was I saw in them.
