IMO....Toronto is more about the money then the music for the most part....yes there are people like the majority of us who just love the music but scene in Toronto is driven by money and not music.

politics influence this scene A LOT, after living in other parts of the world and seeing scenes there this scene's influence by politics is quite high.

Toronto has a great crop of locals that have so much going for them...I LOVE the fact I've had my nights saved by a familiar face on more than one occassion....especially DJs such as Barato and Lio, who keep is consistently wicked on a regular basis :), if this scene isn't damaged too significantly by politics/ridiculousness we could become quite known in the future for our local talent :)

yah we had our chance in the 90's and the city killed that. it did have a greater influence then .. but i think the market forces now can allow dance music to grow here if it really wanted to. and if TA's don't mind!

I was pretty surprised to see them on the bill. It's a huge accomplishment for them, particularly when they aren't straight up techno by any stretch of the imagination (but neither is I love techno itself, unfortunately).

As far as Canadian techno talent goes, most of it has moved elsewhere to further their career so I'm not really surprised to hear them say that.

ILT had lots of groups/DJS that werent Techno...

Hawtin took off..is Liberator still around ?

WHOA WHOA WHOA...

What's with showcasing his shoes and cigarettes??

ING DOUCHE ALERT!

No wonder these s left TO, there obviously aren't quite enough sheep here to buy into their bull.

NO WAIT, HE'S TALKING ABOUT DETROIT AND CHICAGO NOW, THAT GIVES THEM MORE CREDIBILITY!

I take it all back. Someone start the "BRING MSTRKRFT BACK TO T.O." club.

I could be wrong, but I think they're being misunderstood a bit here. In Europe right now, that noisey, electro-y kind of sound is HUGE. Boyz Noise are very popular, and MSTRKRFT is following right behind them in popularity. When I was at I Love Techno, almost every person I asked who played the best set was Boyz Noise.

In Toronto, this sound isn't very big at all (at least not yet).

PS. These guys seem really dumb, and/or they've done way too many drugs. Especially the guy on the right.

not really.. some people here cry sacrilege when it's announced that PVD is playing on 103.5 .. how does that support dance music?

Those same people end up shutting up bigtime when they hit up an event that changes their mind, it doesn't make the party or scene any less amazing (for the most part). If they think it does when it REALLY is a good jam then they're talking and don't know when it comes to the scene or parties.

As for TO being about the money, maybe, it's a combo of that and just how people are here. They're so caught up with "Aw the line up is total I won't go." Rather then the party as a whole, going with friends, having a good time AND the line up, for the most part. I'm SURE if they organized festivals on the TO Island liket hey did last year with locals it would be wicked! (I heard it was really poorly organized from a thread on here) It has to start somewhere though.
