any suggestions would be great.

How do you like the GXP? I got my solstice before the GXP came out. I was going to wait for the GXP but luckily I have friends who can help me out with the increased hp

Get a Yaris over a Smart if you're going the compact route... though granted, yeah, the Smart gets even better mileage of course.

The Camry and Corolla are generally bigger and burn a little more gas i think (heavier, bit bigger engines, etc).. But they are a bit more luxurious in some ways than the civics (at least from a physical point of view)(and this is totally subjective)

The Corolla is even more fuel efficent than the freakin' Yaris on the hwyway (by like 1 mpg I thikn). THe Corolla def doesnt burn more gas than any other option you're looking at. It burns the least!

And the current new generation Civics are def more "luxurious" than the current Corollas. But the Civics are at a slightly higher price point than the new Civics (which went up a pricepoint, and Honda brought in the Fit to fill the gap they left).

Im VERY curious to hear tell of your experience of the hanlding of the Jetta, Jimmy!

I only had the chance for a REAL quick (like aroudn the block once) test drive of a Rabbit back in 06, and even then, I had to take out one of the sales guys' new Rabbit he just bought, bc they had none in stock, so he of course came with me in the test. :(

I just coudlnt get a proper test drive experience to really see what I thought about the car.... im very curious to see what I think of the whole VW driving experience in general... ...

I just bought a 2007 Civix LX. Great car 22000 tax incl. More car then you would think. Great on gas.

They don't make RSX's anymore. Unless you mean the CSX.

I just got myself a CSX and love it. Just leasing it but it costs me less than $300 a month.

Pretty decent on gas to.

The Jetta is a very nice car. It was quiet inside and had a very smooth ride. The only thing I didn't like was the price. They are a bit above a civic or corolla in terms of extras and power. I would buy the Jetta TDI but IMO 31000$ without taxes is a little pricey for such a small car. The rabbit is cheaper, I didn't even test drive that one as it was way too small. The city Jetta and Golf weren't bad though and are very reasonably priced.

Thanks.

And are you really sure the city Golf is any bigger than the Rabbit... ??? its at an even cheaper price point than the Rabbit, and im fairly sure its prolly a bit smaller than the Rababit.... though id have to look at brochures to check the specs to know for sure.

Apparently gas prices are expected to go up to $1.30-$1.40 summer time next year, heard this on the radio last night, so something fuel efficient or hybrid would be nice

for example, you need to be driving 212,000kms before you start saving any real money with a Camry.

My suggestion, check the latest consumer reports auto guide, its amazing. Not all 07 or 08 Toyotas are recommended, some have serious reliability issues.

It cost 10$ and its your best investment!

consumer reports

i keep hearing more and more from auto enthusiasts and those who are highly knowledgeable with vehicles that consumer reports isnt the be all end all for opinions ppl shold be basing decisions on. its is (getting more and more) to be quite biased.

it seems they write to a greater or lesser extendent what they are 'influenced' to put.

i lost my faith in consumer reports being unbiased back in 06. :(

i guess it's still a reasonable place to start though. if one has no clue, its certainly better than NOT consulting it for decission making purposes. there still is good info that can be taken from it.

consumer reports are based on what consumer of said products answer to a standardized report. Every year car owners fill out a report with how many repairs they had and which car subsystem was repaired.

I suspect that owners of brands stated as unreliable are bitching to vent ;)

Buy a Honda or BMW ... whatever you can afford, those two car companies will never let you down.

Even if I was super rich, my car would be still a Civic.
