16bl nye @ warung... that's my party right there!

It really is that amazing there...

and if you look at the dollar vs. the euro, you can really make a storng case for south america. One of the few places left where the dollar actually buys you something :wtf:

thats not a bad idea. i actually would rather do tokyo or germany over ibiza. ibiza may be a bit too much even with the idea of getting a villa w/ all the TAs

Victor - haven't been to Porto Alegre yet, but I imagine it's similar to Florianopolis, i.e. lots of European influence. Should be a similar vibe I'd imagine, EDM-wise. Are you visiting any other areas while you're in Brazil?

R!CH - well first, in terms of airfare, you're at the mercy of the airlines, oil, and the falling dollar - unless you hold Euros or pounds? My advice would be avoid traveling right around Xmas and NYE...You would have to travel before Dec. 15th or after NYE otherwiwse you're competeing with Brazilians traveling home for the holidays. But it's a amazing time. The scens starts heating up in December, but really kicks in in early January when many people are on vacation at the beach...goes til February/March. The average airfare right now is $1200, but my parents got it for $800 in March. The cost to go to clubs honestly is no different than major cities in America. If i'm not mistaken, DJs have to charge in dollars, so not much you can do about that. It's when you talk about every day stuff, it's still cheap. Going out to restaurants (Brazilian BBQ all you can eat meat starting from $10-$15 or 5-star restaurants for less than you'd pay in SF, LA or Vegas), and beer for $1.50. Hotels (pousadas) - you can find awesome places on secluded beaches still for much less than other places. (But everything gets more expensive for Carnaval and NYE).

If I had to pick a perfect time, it would be mid-November to mid-December, or 1st week of January to right before Carnaval, price wise.

Brazil's currency has been a lot stronger than its neighbors lately, though. For example, Argentina is still more than 3 to 1, it's still pretty cheap, and is worth checkign out too.

Porto Alegre is Brasil's most European City in my opionion, My wife is from there, In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, there are towns where people speak German and Italian. Gramado and Canella are really nice places to check out too. Florianoplis is amazing too, Its an 80 KM Island and has some of the best beach's in the world along with the most beautiful women. Floripa is a great party spot. Check Cumburiu as well. The Dollar to Real is currently $1 US gets you $1.75 Real which is good, but I have been there when it was better like 3-4 to 1 Dollar.

Word to everything Cryx just said. I've just updated that list and added a ton of stuff, including Tiesto, Sasha, and more.
