The best of the summer season in Brazil. Honestly, sh*t is blowing up this year. As you know, a lot of artists have been going south for New Years, and there's good reason why. The region in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina is being referred to as the Ibiza of Brazil. With already a brand-presence of El Divino and Pacha, the summer season brings a lot of clubs to the beach.
I put this list together to help myself, but it's for anyone planning a little trip down to Brazil. I know this is the West Coast section, but enjoy...

yes it's nuts, and I am going to drive my fiance nuts if I drag her to everything hehe.
The other thing I was going to mention, but I will probably start in a new thread, is I plan on talking to the promoter (they're throwing the majority of major parties here) to see if they are interested in bringing any DJs from US. Maybe some TAs are interested? I've got about another 6 months or so here, so let's see if I am successful! |

oh yeah, Tiesto is somewhere in that list too, I believe beginning of Februrary, but it's unconfirmed. I know he will play in the actual Carnaval in Salvador, and I am hearing, the Maracana Stadium in Rio.
Tiesto has the draw of Michael Jackson, in Brazil, it's ridiculous. |

what is the word on Punta de Este? that's what i've usually heard is Ibiza-esque...been thinking about checking it out for the heck of it. |

I spent a few days in Punta back a few years ago. Basically, it's an area on the edge of Uruguay, that fills up between Xmas and the end of January, with primarily Argentines (and other foreigners) on vacation. Remember, southern hemisphere, so it's summer there. It's cool, but best in groups. It has a slight-Ibiza vibe. Many clubs from Buenos Aires open a "temporary" club there, e.g. Mint, etc. Also a lot of bars and restaurants from Bs As have a presence there, a lot of promotions, a lot of models, beautiful people, etc. The hotels get expensive. Although it's fun, in my opinion, the vibe, the beaches, etc. are beter a bit north in Florinapolis, Maresias, etc (Brazil). But I'm a bit biased, I'm marrying a Brazilian ;)
But, you should definitely check it out, it is fun.
one word of advice though, splurge and take a plane there, don't bother with the Buca-bus (ferry) from Buenos Aires.

as much as i love ibiza, i really wanted to venture off to australia or south america next summer... i have a feeling if i ever went to warung beach, i'd probably never go home :o
