story is:
this guy from NY wanted to book me a couple of years ago for like 1k.. and they said "just come over and say youre visiting friends" so i said no way, im not doin that without ther proper / papers visas.... so i told him i wasnt interested in playing in america. because as your all sure that if i went n did that, got caught, ytou can forget any chance of me ever being able to get ab actual visa / being allowed back into the US...
so... now my agents for north america got me a 3 year O1 visa (which was not easy to get) and now this guys just pissed off that i got US gigs and that i didnt play for him beofre. theresfore i guess it was cool of him to bring that up in a forum like that.
oh well. it's not very professional on his part, at all... so much in fact that even now that i can enter / perform in the US...im not really interested in working with him... and that just made him upset enough to post random bull on the forums i guess.
and as it turns out, he has alot of lil buddies and whatnot on his side... so yeah, thats recipe for a good lame thread right there.
... but i dont think it all amounts to me "being a dick" ... if anything, i did the right thing by shutting down that gig 2 years ago.. wotherwise i'd probably not have the opportunnity to play all these new ones. I like to run everything legit, and i dont like to deal with people who dont. its not that hard to understand really... but the rest of the "im an " order should really give it a rest... 70 out of 73 people who make these claims, i've never even met in the first place. :\

damn too late... I spent 20 min reading that thread, and a few minutes later this thread was created.
For some of you who haven't been around... some will tell you my history with promoters.
Personally, they are great guys and gals, I adore all of them, and great to see them and share a drink any time!
But professionally, it's CUT-THROAT business, where there is always one-upmanship, get people to events at all costs, fighting for attendees, email contact stealing for spamming, and a sh1tload of badmouthing other promoters to ruin reputations to up their business. Not all of course, but many. |
