So-called "Photographers" are pretentious twats.

My rant for today: I think most of the photographers are pretentious twats. Browsing for some wallpaper pics online, I stumbled upon so many self-important sites, full of crap photography by bunch of emo nobodies who call themselves "photographers" or even worse - "artists"! Ugh... So, you got a $300 camera at walmart, took some pictures of flies f*cking, a plumber's hairy ass crack and a hobo scratching his balls - you now have a "portfolio" and you're all of the sudden Ansel Adams?

I don't think so.... twat with a camera, that's what you are, really.

/rant

//hate emos with camera (unless it's a hot emo chick into taking pics of herself nekkid to piss her parents/boyfriend/girlfriend off).

i browse thru there a lot, mostly to search for photography and inspiration. I have a gallery too :p but i'd like to think i'm not a twat.

i think that theory can be applied across all spectrums of art. think of all the talentless s out there that have access to computers, music production software, image editing programs, video editing programs, etc, etc, the list goes on... the internet provides an outlet for everybody to be somebody.

:haha:

yeah, best friend's a good photographer, and as a result i've now got substantially higher standards for photography

Ok, what do you call a dude with whole bunch of night time skyline pics that were taken with a crappy camera. The pics all look like streaky colors - the sort you sometimes see when u're trippin bawlz (so I hear ;) ). It reminded me bunch of my bad pictures that I took in the clubs. All of the sudden this guy is selling a print for $300???? xcuse me??????????

goodgreef
haha yeah, need a link.

that's lame. ive seen some horrible photos go into the print shop = but that's because the store doesn't choose who gets to sell and who doesn't. As long as you have a print account, you can sell anything the frig you want.
I refuse to buy into that.

Well... most of the electronic musicians' websites I came across do not tend to overhype their music. Even accomplished producers like Airbase or Eric Prydz do not overhype their art. Like, most of the EDM folk are not going to state something stupid on their website like:

- "THE PHATTEST BEATS ON DA STREET SINCE 'ACE OF BASE'" -DJ TIESTO

- "THIS IS THE RECORD OF ALL RECORDS, PUTS ALL MY WORK TO SHAME" -PAUL VAN DYK

- "THIS IS DOPE" -ARMIN VAN BUUREN

Meanwhile most of the photographer websites I found were quite ing pretentious. Just lol'd.
