Capello

Coup
Do you think the appointment of Capello and his quartet of fellow countryman for his backroom staff was the right decision?

I know in an ideal world, we'd like the manager of England to be English, however take into account all the factors, who's available, who's simply good enough, what we need to do to the sqaud to get them playing football again, then vote.

Personally I think it's a spot on decision. I think it's gotten to the point where somebody needs to instill the fear of god into them, and I believe a foreigner would do that far better than an Englishman.

In an ideal world Mourinho would've been hired. But the FA botched the hiring process again.

Your missing a "dont Care" option on the poll :)

he is a good choice but i dont think any manager in the world could win anyhting with that team england are the most over rated team going.

I think Capello has the bottle to drop these so called "stars" and bring in the likes of Agbonlahor, Milner, Bentley, Taylor......

I don't rate Milner.

not really mate. Jose was pretty much given the option by the portugese of taking the job and being unwelcome back home. Plus how Koeman is going, he'll hopefully get the Valencia job sooner than later. Fabio is a great pick for us. He commands respect amongst his peers and has won stuff wherever he's been, way more than Jose.

I doubt Mourinho ever had any intention of managing England. It was just a clever ploy to drum up a bit of demand for himself in order to increase the size of his pay packet where ever he does end up.

As for Capello; if he can't do anything with the English team then very very few can. Finally a step forward as far as I'm concerned.

Capello is a brilliant manager, but there are obvious pros and cons to his non-Englishness. He's coming into the setup without the preconceptions of someone who is more familiar with the English game. The team is in real need of a shake-up so this can only be a good thing. From a motivational perspective though, I feel that a fellow countryman is far more suited to talk to the players. We know all about the perils of foriegn managers from Berti.

I think he'll do alright. Many of the prima-donna players will have to take a second look at themselves and knuckle down once they are dropped from the first team. Can't be any worse than where you are now anyway. :p

Anyone who thinks it was the right decision for the FA to hire capello when they did has not a clue about the English FA's stupidity or the English teams needs.

The night of our defeat against Croatia the Head of the English FA said there should be a real deep look into how it happened and in the morning said that every avenue possible would be explored for a new manager.

Next thing you know as far as I'm or anyone's concerned, nobodies looked into why we lost that game, because it wasn't ALL McClarens fault, and they hire the first person they find.
Now, Capello is a good manager, but with no major game until the end of next year the FA should have done alot more before offering him a contract.
If all goes pear shaped then it'll be a far bigger payout and a far bigger task getting the national team to any level acceptable to the fans.

Top choice if you ask me. Capello has been a very successful manager at a domestic level.

Would like to see someone English in the backroom staff though to take over once Capello's had enough.

Definitely a great choice. He has one helluva track record and he should get the perennially underachieving English squad performing to their full potential.

Sure an Englishman would be fitting for this squad, but I rather take the best coach available any day of the week.

Would you guys prefer to see Becks get his 100th cap?
