Hey Guys,
I know there was a thread on here a while back about custom in-ear musicians ear plugs and there was a link posted that allowed you to look up who locally could make them. If anyone can provide that link it would be much appreciated. |

| yeah i could probably use ear protection. I've been noticing that i hear things a lot louder in my left ear more than my right ear, but then again thats probably because i know the two canal's are shaped different'ly so the right one some how lowers volume, but oh well =P |

| Those ER20s are good for clubbing; if I don't bring them along I'll have ringing in the ears for days so I don't go without them. |

| I would need this kind of earplugs too. Got the custom ones in yellow foam this week, but it cuts too much frequencies.. Can't mix with them, only good when going clubbing. I already have tinnitus (ringing in the hears) and trust me guys, protect your hearings well :P |

Is that a fact about the right ear always being quieter than the left? |

| I actually just made an appointment today with an ear specialist (for jan 8 2008 :)). Best would be to get custom plugs (which I'm getting). These are exacty copies of the inside of your ear and work the best. No sound will be leaking etc etc. Just try and find a local hearing specialist. They often know a lot about hearing protection as well. Ask them for some info and you'll be on the right way asap :). |

ER-20's are great for clubbing, but not for mixing cause the ear stubs stick out too far and interfere with your headphones.
I've just bought Alpine Music Pros which have a much smaller stub and are ideal for mixing with ;) |

I got my ER25's ~6 years ago and they're still holding up great. Fit is great (if you don't count that little itch I get when I have them on, foamplugs don't have it since they're "bigger", in a sense) and the sound is superb. Having them is just like someone turned a global volume knob down a lot. Also having conversations in club-environments is easier because for some reason I pick up speech close up much better with the plugs on than without.
Also they fit perfectly under headphones so you can easily dj with them on, although you do need to crank up the volume a bit. |

Have the ER25's got a shorter stub than the ER20's then?
With the new Alpine Music Pro's I've just had you get a 3 sets of filters that you insert into the stub. Bronze is for pubs/bars, Silver is for clubbing and Gold is for DJing - cost about the same as the ER20's. |

You can see the ER25s in the link posted above. The stub barely levels with the outside of your ear, so no problems there. Also you can get extra-filters for the base (such as the 9 & 15 db ones also in the link), although they do cost a pretty penny, so I guess that if the Alpine-plugs' audio-quality is even close to the Elacins', then I'd guess that for the money that is also a good option. Are the Alpine-plugs formed specifically to your ear or just bought off the shelves?
A good deal in Elacins is that I can just phone the company and order new plugs just by my name alone since the molds are supposedly stored. |
