we're similar to america, but we don't do the whole "college" thing. i don't even know the difference between college and university heh.
3-4: Pre-school
5-12: Primary school
13-17: High school
?: University
getting accepted into university depends on your year 12 (last year of high school) results. each state has it's own weighting system. where i live, it is called a TER (tertiary entrance rank). at uni, we have mandatory classes and electives. mandatory classes give you your major(s) and you use the electives to satisfy the requirements of whatever minors you want to specialise in. eg. i am doing a double degree (double major), which is bachelor of commerce & business. my majors are accounting (commerce degree) and management of IT (business degree). i have no choice over the majors, as this double degree locks me into those. at some other universities, you can do a commerce degree and major in marketing or management etc. but my university has a separate degree entirely for those. my minors are information systems and computer science.
