both!

Fur has a guestlist on its website.

Free before 11PM for those under 21
and free until 12AM for those 21+

And presales are $10 on groovetickets

i recommend getting tix online, guest list can be unreliable so u have to pay $25 vs. $10 online

The night would have been totally different if mdj started his set with his last 30 minutes of set. Anymore, you missed it bro... but too little too late. I'm not saying he was bad, no, he was good, energetic... but something was lacking and bland. But the last 30 minutes were money!

ooh reviews! i was HOPING to read some :)

a trip that ended up being a reunion with a lot of longtime DC/VA friends from various boards and some who were old school DCTAs. Met a few more new ones which was cool :) nice to meet you Vitamin-DLW at the house party we were both at, you are really chills and hope to meet up again the next time we are down in DC and maybe we will get to hang out at the main party together :) too bad we didnt get to meet the rest of the current DCTAS, but there is always next time!

Our objective had been to see MENNO at FUR; however, ended up with comps and clubhopping for our first time ever (thanks to our friends who apparently knew everyone at both clubs, LOL!! very unexpected!) between CLUB IBIZA (Christopher Lawrence) and then we hit up Menno at 130ish at FUR.

First time going to *both* clubs, FUR's main room was pretty spacious but i wasn't wowed when i went in (despite the fact it was nice to be in a big room club again since all of NYC nightclubs were closing down one by one). Also the sound was not consistent, there were times when I was wishing for earplugs. Menno WAS throwing down and VERY energetic, and maaan when he threw down "Heaven Scent" that was magical. As expected, it was trance all the way, however if you heard his 2007 Yearmix he threw down most of the songs he spun on there, plus some less recent tracks that were nice to hear. But overall the set was somewhat predictable as in most trance sets as of late from the top 5. I personally thought his appearance in 2006 at LOVE (DC) was much more notable than this one. We did have a lot of fun though especially with closing the party. Verdict: We certainly weren't disappointed but yeah, didn't find anything remarkably special about it. I can certainly admit that we probably aren't exactly the best ppl to be reviewing this party because over the past 2 years we slowly grew disillusioned with how simliar/predictable every trance set seems to sound as of late from the top djs.

I couldnt tell how the vibe at FUR was cuz it was hardly packed, there was a good handful of people but definitely a lot less than I expected to see at a party with Menno. Was this a 21+ night? cuz that would have explained it).

Otherwise the only OTHER explanation would be that IBIZA nightclub's gig with Christopher Lawrence may have taken most of the DC crowd away from this party because Ibiza definitely had long lines outside the club, and the main (trance) room was growing more and more packed as the night progressed -- although there was still room to dance.

And I dunno, i was completely sober for both parties, so in a way I was able to be objective with my observations -- As soon as I walked into IBIZA, I felt something i haven't felt in a long time; an instant liking for a megaclub space. (this hasn't happened for me since Roxy/ARC/Spirit). The sound was perfect, the dj booth setup was in the right place, and there was more than enough room to move around as the club had three floors and a rooftop space for ppl to chill -- all access. Christopher Lawrence was so on point it wasn't funny; had me dancing nonstop from the very moment he started up until I left. The vibe was definitely there and it soo reminded me of the days of old when I used to have fun clubbing and I cherished it greatly.

edited: Actually now that i think about it, I was certainly not **BORED** wtih Menno's set (and I have been somewhat bored with many a trance set by djs recently in NYC except for Ronski Speed at Webster), so I am going to adjust my original critique. There is NO denying he is a great talent and would have the potential to bring more of a crowd if he came to the US more often and was promoted thru the right people/channels at the *right* venue. Plus he is one of the most open djs ever when it come to his fans in more ways than one, very cordial in general and he actually remembers ppl who he's hung out with previously (my DC friends have accounted for this personally). Such great potential. While I am probably not going to be coming out much if at all this yr for any top 5 dj/big room parties, I would totally make it a point to come out for Mennos gig in NYC. :)
