a piece of metal that was the same size/weight as a quarter. my guess is that they're manufactured by crackheads so they can sneak them into the paper rolls of quarters and rip off banks for their next hit.
but it didn't work in my laundry machine.  |

...Or maybe it's a filler if they were one short for a roll?

Australia removed 1c and 2c coins from circulation in 1991. Our $1 and $2 coins are pretty light (not as light as Canadian $1 and $2 coins though - I have a couple of each), but our 20c and 50c coins are heaps heavy, and rather large in size. The 50c coin is 3.2cm wide, and the 20c coin is about 2.8cm wide. Both are about 1mm or so thick. |
Oops. Sorry... my response was to you assuming you were an American. I have no idea what the Aussie currency is like. |

| I have about £200 in change. I don't like keeping anything smaller than pound coins in my wallet. |

Our penny, nickel and dime are identical to yours (except the nickel is a little rounder, and the dime is a little thinner).
Then we have the one dollar coin, and the 2 dollar coin (loonie and twoonie).
The rest are all bills.
I never save coins... I just spend it the next time I go to the store. It's rare that I have any coin on me. |
yeah, see here's the thing. the canadian dimes and the quarters are both slightly thinner, and also lighter. this, unfortunately, means that while you'll rarely notice one sitting in a pile of change, or for instance in your pocket, when you go to use it in any sort of vending machine or parking pay station, it won't take it. so you canadian :whip: |

| We've removed most of the small coins here. Wasn't worth the hassle. |
