When I was in London last year, I sat at the bar of my hotel with another colleague. I had this exchange with one of the bartenders:
Bartender: "What do you want?"
Me: "Newcastle (Brown Ale)"
Bartender: "What's Newcastle?"
Me: (Wondering if I was actually in England) "You don't know Newcastle?!"
Bartender: "No, but I'll give you a beer that I think you'll enjoy"
Bartender goes over and hands me a bottle of Dos Equis (Really TY Mexican beer)
Me: (Brain exploded after seeing that bottle) "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!" :whip:  :whip:  :whip:
Bartender was smart to run away from me after seeing my reaction to that. |
:stongue:
Where they actually British?
Next time ask for a newcy brown they'll known what you mean. |

| I'm surprised so many people tried Chimay here, it's pretty hard to come by. No doubt it's the best beer though, all Trappist beers are amazing. |

This thread actually inspired me to get a bottle of Chimay today.
I'm drinking it right now :D
I wish it wasn't $17 a bottle though :( |

Chimay is easy to find in the Us and Ohio ... places like World Market, Giant Eagle, Heinens etc
For people who say it's difficult to get good beer in the Us are ignorant buffons and aren't searching in the right places.
Biggest micro-brew, specialty shops culture in pretty much the whole world.
Now speaking of specific beers, friday I went to this place in ty Akron Ohio called 69 taps ....
Happy hours all their beers on tap for 2 bucks a pint ( they have 20 some beers on tap ) I had:
Turbodog raspberry ale ( crap )
Killians red
Hoegarden
Arrogant bastard ale
Great lakes christmas ale
Great lakes Elliott ness
cherry wheat
perhaps more but I was a little buzzed and lost track of names and amounts :wtf: |

I'm pretty sure the bartender wasn't British.
Since they had no Newcastle, I settled for Tiger Beer and it sucked.
Thanks for the tip. I'll note it for next time I'm back in London. |

|
Because some of us hate the heat :p . I live for the cold. Beer tastes great whether hot or cold |
