Thanks Andrew.
This night is a 100% GO AFAIC! |

I once sat beside LTJ Bukem on a train ride from Liverpool to London, haha incredibly cool dude. |
haha reminds me of the time me and Blackness ran into Mark EG in a grocery store.
He's an incredibly cool dude, very laid back and easy going, not what you'd assume from his on stage DJing performance/antics.
The man was very down to earth, incredibly cool, as well. |

with reference to the personal attack, "meh" i don't really care what anyones opinion of my musical taste is.
but if you want to talk about the FACTS, destiny has been recycling the same B-class dj lineups for the past couple years.... its BORING BORING BORING.
thats a fact, not my opinion |

Hhaha. No it's not.
The usual Jungle/DNB lineup of Grooverider/DJ SS/Dillinja/Ed Rush & Optical is not there. In fact, it has been completely revamped to have BSE, which are on a very techy/trancey side of drum & bass (who haven't been here in a couple of years), and LTJ Bukem (who Destiny also doesn't "recycle" time after time), who's like atmospheric/chill Jungle. The respective sounds of these two artists alone are vastly different from what Destiny usually has in terms of DNB. I'll post some hype material about these guys soon, cause I think a lot of people on this board need to have their eyes opened to what they really sound like.
And RITM has last been here in 2005 WEMF? The other artists (except for locals and Rogue Element) I don't remember ever seeing on a Destiny (or any other) flyer at all.
Recycled? HAH!
Just because you're ignorant to who these artists are doesn't mean that the lineup is recycled. If anything, this is the freshest lineup Destiny has had in a few years. The ONLY downside is that it's so fresh that it loses some of the mainstream appeal because Armin Van Boring is not on the bill.
Anyway, no one's forcing you to go (although I think you should purely for the reason that for once, a major promoting company is pushing artists that Guv and the like would never think to bring in, which is exactly what everyone on this board keeps bitching about). If the lineup doesn't excite you, go somewhere else. |

you sure told me :)
i know im super ignorant, ill always be the young TA who doesnt know anything no matter what! its all good hahahah i dont mind getting ripped on for liking djs that are not completely underground
im just glad that when i was underage and had to rely on promoters like destiny (been to most in the past 5 years) for an electronic fix, i was getting the proper bang for my buck. i feel bad for the youngsters i work with that want to see those big names/semi-popular djs but just dont have the chance, i got lucky when i was 15 armin van borin ( not so boring at the time) had an all ages show.
destiny books the lesser known djs because they cant compete with guvernments piggy bank, lets be honest here, do you actually think that the majority of destiny's crowd is 19+? how many of these 15-18 year olds are at your level of musical knowledge, sure they may end up enjoying the djs that were booked, but do you honestly think thats whats drawing them there?
go somewhere else if you dont like it was your suggestion, and i agree, ill be at footwork the following week for kaskade, a dj im actually interested in seeing. |

I think you're partly right...
Destiny runs all-ages parties at venues they don't own, and presmubly don't make jack from bar sales (which won't have as much booze revenue anyway, due to the all-ages crowd). So their money is strictly from ticket sales, I assume? Guv can even take a loss on a party, knowing it would be made up on resident's nights when costs are lower, though I doubt they take losses at all.
I still don't think that it's fair to say that these are garbage lineups with Destiny recycling b-class DJs. If you're criteria is simply based on mainstream popularity, fine. If you're criteria is talent, notoriety amongst the faithful of the scene, and a good party...no way.
I'll be at Kaskade too...but Destiny parties are still amazing in terms of music and vibe. Unfortunately, I've only been successful in getting friends to a couple of Destiny parties over the years because many can't seem to get over the 16+ thing or deal with a bit of d'n'b in the main room early on :p |

Actually - you may be surprised to know that more than 80% of our clientele are 19+. The number is closer to 90% at WEMF. We know by the number of wristbands at regular events and the sign in sheets at WEMF.
Demographically:
Age
60% of attendees are 19-24
85% of attendees are 19-29
Sex
60% M, 40% F
Nationality
78% are Canadian (45% GTA, 40% Other Ontario, 10% Quebec)
20% are American
