Finally! :eyespop:
and as a bonus get to finally see LTJ Bukem as well.
p.s.I never understood why people have to argue with others to make their point? Some folks here think the lineup is garbage and don't want to go? awesome! I mean who cares if you're going or not? more room for people who want to go and enjoy the night. ;)

I said I'll post up some hype material, and here it goes. First up:
Black Sun Empire
Basically 3 dudes making Drum & Bass from the Netherlands. Nothing exciting to a TranceAddict so far, right? Except the key here is that they're from THE NETHERLANDS. The same Netherlands that's home of the massives like Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, SVD, Marco V, and the list goes on. Has the huge Trance scene in Holland influenced the way Black Sun Empire sound? YOU BETCHA! Don't believe me? I present to you, one of their biggest (if not THE biggest, but gosh they have so much golden stuff) tracks to date - Arrakis:
Tell me that's not a Dark Trance build right there. It just explodes into a fury of kicks and snares instead of a boom-booom-boom of the standard 4/4 bassline. The whole track is actually much more epic and Trancey than that clip shows, and it would be great injustice not to show you the whole thing:
"But wait," you say, "I love singing along to cheesy Vocal Trance lyrics; it makes my panties wet. Drum & Bass doesn't have that." Oh yes it does. And Black Sun Empire drops it:
Okay, so I cheated a bit - this track is not by BSE. It's by Rawthang, and it's called "Scorned", but Rawthang and BSE are good friends - such good friends that Rawthang tracks made it onto 2 of BSE's albums.
It gets better though - check out Dance 4 Life - Breathe (Black Sun Empire remix 1):
This track is so massive, just one remix wasn't enough, so they made 2. It starts out like something you'd hear at Cafe Del Mar - nice and chilling vocals, soft melody, but then the buzzing sawline synth comes in, brings the build, and you get the feeling you're not at Cafe Del Mar anymore - this is BSE country now. Drum.And.Bass.CAN.BE.BEAUTIFUL.
But enough of the soft stuff. We don't come to clubs to relax and to be put to sleep, nooo we come to be grabbed, picked up, and carried by the synths throughout the entirety of the songs. And this is where BSE delivers like furniture movers on crack. Black Sun Empire - The Cooler:
Starts out so innocent - just a soft synth and a soft beat. Then the metallic-sounding synth comes in, and the track takes a turn for the darker. Much darker. Then a maad build comes in. The kind of build modern Trance only wishes it had. Then the drumroll comes, and the synth (and the entire in track) is pitched up into madness. Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!
But it - it gets darker. And harder. MMMMM baby! Black Sun Empire - Driving Insane:
No beating about the bush in this track - from the first few seconds in, it's already nice and fast bouncy and heavy. And yet it seems to be speeding up. How could it possibly get any more energetic than this? Listen and find out.
I feel like I must stop, otherwise I'm going to go through the entire BSE discography - it's quite extensive and nearly ALL of it is as nutty as the stuff I showed here, so you don't want me to do that. For those that were patient and open-minded enough to stay with me throughout this long post, I saved the best for last. Oh yes, the NASTIEST, DARKEST, HARDEST, most MIND-INGLY-GOOD track. And the beauty of this is that it also happens to be set to some INSAAANE footage of a DNB event in The Netherlands. Eye-D - Unicorn MF (Black Sun Empire remix):
So there you have it. Some Black Sun Empire history in a nutshell for ya. Don't tell me there's no Trance at this event - it's there in a different form, embedded in the Drum & Bass beats. So when those buzzing-synth builds come, I want to see some MOTHERING HANDS IN THE AIR, BITCHES!
If you liked what you heard here, here's how you can get more of it:
1. Grab the Black Sun Empire - Driving Insane album.
2. Grab the Black Sun Empire - Cruel & Unusual album.
3. Go to Destiny63 :D
4. Grab the Black Sun Empire - Endangered Species album. It's not released yet, but grab it anyway. ;)
I'll come back with some LTJ Bukem education later.
I'm out, peace.
