I'm going to Brazil for 10 days on Feb 25th..and I'm counting the seconds...I'm in dire need of some sun, warmth, beaches, and gorgeous Brazilian chickies in bikinis. :gsmile:
I'm still undecided as to where I'm going to stay, which city, resort etc...
Anyone ever been?..what are some places worth visiting? nice, clean beaches? best resorts? etc..
I would appreciate any info. *I'm looking at you Lira*
Spanks. :) |

Rio obviously but there's lots of nice beaches. just depends how much tourism you want.
I'd recommend Ponta Negra and Via Costeira |

This is part of a PM I've recently sent to another TA:
| quote: | Florianópolis is very famous for its beaches and pleasant weather. If you're on your own (or if your family/friends don't mind travelling by bus), you might want to explore the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul - it feels like some sort of "tropical Europe". It should be just a couple of hours from Rio by plane, tops.
If, however, you want to spend most of your time at the beach, you should also consider visiting the North-East. It's a bit more distant from Rio (although still "reachable" by plane), and it's the sort of place that you probably think of when you think of "Brazil".
Brasília is what I'd call a "cultural city": it's 1000 km away from the coast, and it's famous for its architecture and ideological clashes :D If you like nature, though, there are many waterfalls nearby that are really worth seeing. If you come, please tell me, and I'll check whether I can take you to those waterfalls (now that's a bit tricky, and depends on whether or not I'll be on vacation). In any case, I can probably show you around :)
Finally, if you like History, make sure you visit Minas Gerais (specially Ouro Preto) and Petrópolis, in the state of Rio. Ouro Preto, unfortunately, is the only city I mentioned that doesn't have an airport, and Petrópolis is just 65 km away from Rio de Janeiro.
Well... there's also the Amazon, but I've never been there :p

So, it pretty much depends on what you're looking for :) |

Maybe it's the fact that I'm Brazilian, and I lived in Rio when I was a kid but, the whole state of São Paulo owns Rio in pretty much everything.
If only it had a giant Jesus :p

Well, isn't it the epitome of everything what foreigners want when they come to Brazil?
Sure, I mentioned Florianópolis because I like it better, but the North-East is still worth mentioning. Besides, she's coming near the carnival, and the North-East has many more cultural events during that time... |

wow.... unless you want sound cool and say "I went to Rio" let me just tell you right now that it's one of the most over rated cities in Brazil. It's not even close to what Brazil has to offer. Awesome places to go are..
Belo Horizonte MG- nightlife, big city (south east)
Sao Paulo SP- night life, big city, shopping (south east)
Florianopolis SANTA CATARINA- beach (south)
Buzios RJ- beach (south)
Gramado/ Canela RIO GRANDE DO SUL - towns (south)
Fortaleza CEARA - beach (north east) |

It's funny how no one seems to like Rio around here, except for cariocas themselves :D |
