you think it's time to move out?

Ok so i'm 23. Slow out of the gate i know, so i dont need those comments about "omg btg you're still at home? man i can't believe you."

My parents are moving to a NICE place in milton, about a 45 minute drive from my work, depending on traffic (dunno how bad the 401 is).

My gf would then live about 1.5 hours away (doing the rough math in my head).

Rent goes for about $500 per basement apartment in brampton, and I am making $1600 a month. not great but it's bearable.

i also have other debts (car, loan, insurance, phone etc) so that would leave me with about $300 'profit' at the end of the month.

so $300 for food and beer i guess, don't need a smoke budget because I have apparently quit.

anyways the REAL question is about school and if it's a good idea to stay at home and save some money to go to school instead of growing a pair and leaving the nest (Plus it'll be really nice to live on 18 acres of land with a nice view of the stars every night. i'm gay.)

Also I'd like a poll of people who are still living at home, and who are not. If you're not living with your parents, when did you move? did you go back to school? did you wait until after school? etc

just need to see what other people are up to so i can kind of compare it to where i am in my life and how i can make either way work.

cheers.

I live with my parents. But again, I'm Latin, only one friend of mine has left home so far... and that's only because he got his girlfriend pregnant :toothless

Stay with parents while you pay off those debts (including credit card debt). Save up some money before moving, so in case of problems you won't have to move back in. Don't get student loans.

I moved out when i was 20, to go to school in another city/land mass. Best choice of my life, except that the debts i never had before, are now ridiculous.
I don't consider "phone, insurance" debts, they're every day life payments... but if you are high up on your credit card/loan ... pay off as much of it as you can before you leave the parents' house.
I also recommend buying over renting...which is what I am about to do.

23 is a great age to move out. I was also 23 when i first moved out. Now you gotta try not to be a sucker & rent. Most of the time all u need is a half ass job & dencent credit & you can buy a condo. Talk to Vivid Boy(Eric). He might be able get u a nice condo in foreclosure thats cheap.
