it all depends where ya stay and how long you stay for. i use the $1500-2000total rule, and i would say per day around 200-300 spending cash. i try to purchase my tickets on credit card it usually helps me out. alsways remember if you going from sobe-downtown and miami vice versa you will spend a boatload on cabs unless you wanna drive or get lucky w/ the buses(which takes too long)

yeah driving down from St. Pete helps. Getting a condo from a friend, but splitting that cost with other friends (first time i've done that!). No, you aren't the only one doing it under a grand. They don't all have to be $40-$100 entrance fees...

my portion for the week on the condo is going to be about 200 or so. gas goin to miami and back about 100. cabs i was spending about 40 a day last year between me and two buddies. tickets i figure will cost about 50 per at least not including ultra which will be more, so about 300 or so on tickets give or take 50 bucks. food about 20 a day was what i was spending last year. alcohol i stocked up before i got to miami and didn't really drink too much at the clubs, flask will help out even more with that this year since someone suggested. guess i'm not balling or getting v.i.p or something like a lot of people. lol

first year i think i did it all for less than 800.....airfare...hotel.....food....tickets...cash.....of course....or hotel cost like 10 bucks a night per person.....we was super deep!!! LOL

What do ya'll recommend using at the clubs for drinks...Cash or credit card? I am used to opening a tab here in Texas but I'm not sure that would be a wise move in Miami @ WMC...

why wouldn't it be a wise move?

i dont see why it s a big concern...i usually just make friends with my bartender and by thru them and thats sometimes pays off

just dont get too plastered and forget to clsoe your tab

Well, I'd be scared that with the sheer mass of people the queues to close out a tab might be unreal.

btw, what time do Miami clubs stop serving alcohol?

WMC has cost me anywhere from $1200 to $5000. It all depends on where you stay, how early you book your flight, and your partying habits. Unfortunately it gets more expensive each year as it gets more commercial and everybody jacks up their prices. If you book your flight early you can get a pretty decent deal on a flight. I came from Pittsburgh and NYC over the years and never paid more than $260 for a flight. Try getting a room at the Clay hotel....it's cheap, clean enough, has AC, and is in the heart of all the action on SOBE. That should run you about $100 a night if not cheaper. I always set aside $200 a day/night for drinks and everything else. Bring your own food....like protein bars, snacks and stuff and you will not spend much more on food. Space is a nightmare at 4-5 am and on. If you plan on going to Space and want to even have a chance on getting on the terrace....GO EARLY, enjoy the music in the main room and then get your ass up to the terrace before 3am. Anytime after that you're gonna have to wait in line to get to the terrace and maybe even have to bribe the ing bouncers to let you up there.;)

I'd be wary about opening a tab, especially if you're with a few people at a 24hr club downtown (space, studio A, pawnshop, Nocturnal, etc). When you're there for so long ordering so many drinks its easy for a mistake to be made, maliciously or accidentally. You forget what you ordered, see an astronomical grand total, and then just say whatever and pay it, without realizing the bartender slipped an extra drink or four in there. I always pay cash up front for every transaction.

Someone asked what time they stop serving drinks...downtown clubs have a 24hr liquor licence pal, the party doesn't stop until 4pm the next day usually. On South Beach the clubs close at either 5am or 6am, maybe later depending on how the club feels about it. You can buy a drink on the way out if you want I guess.

I didn't even know what a last call was before I partied in Washington DC :wtf:

Try to use $ at the clubs for drinks!!

I live in Miami and I used my card at Space for SVD in Dec and the ******s already added $16 as the tip so I left it at that.

When I got my statement, they added ANOTHER $16 for tip.

I am in a dispute as we speak lol

Plus at the clubs they will put like a huge hold on your card for a few days so if you use your bank card you will be without that $ :P

My buddies and I are trying to do a WMC for under a grand as well. Any tips suggestions you can share on how you are accomplishing this? We are thinkin about sackin out on the beach for a night to save a bit of cash.

Last year we just flew by the seat of our pants and each spent between 1800-2000 on everything. SInce we experienced that now we want to go on the cheap snice we have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
