the only thing redeeming about it is the trackpad functions, which I'm sure will find their way onto the other macbooks in the future.
Serious ing let down. |

I like the concept. I can see where it has its place on the market. This is a let down for me because this is something that is completely and utterly useless. I was hoping for some decent announcement for something like the Mackbook Pro seeing as that is likely the next computer purchase I am going to make.
As Ted said, the trac pad features on this laptop will likely be ported to future Macbooks and Macbook Pros and so I will get everything that I want without having to lose my USB ports and Disc Drive. |

New MBPs have gotta be a ways off. I bought mine right after they introduced the Santa Rosa chip in it back ~July. I don't forsee another upgrade, especially a full upgrade until summer. |

Massive to sealed batteries.
I'm a huge Apple fan, but this doesn't particularly seem all that terrific to me. |

| The fact that it doesn't have a replaceable battery is a deal breaker. |

| It looks nice but I don't see the point in a laptop that thin when it lacks many important features. |

ugh no optical drive, 80 gb hard disk, 13.3" display, and (probably) 2gb's of generic Hynix RAM, no replaceable battery for 1799?
i understand that the cost increases significantly when things get smaller but the lack of other components should bring it down no? |

| Stuff like the computer chip (Dual Core chip the size of a dime) is only in this computer, the monitor is a backlit LED display, the track pad is a multi touch... There are bits technology in this thing that are new for laptops and not just smaller versions of what's already on the laptop market. |

| i was too waiting for the macbook pro update...guess steve jobs will lose a lot of money..a lot of people were waiting for it to spend $2000+ for apple...macbook air will be a major flop in my opinion..students wont buy this..too expensive and lacks a lot of useful features.... |

Sealed battery, only 1 USB-port, no optical drive, no Firewire, no Ethernet-port.. I know that sacrifices have to be made to make an ultraportabel laptop, but this is too much for me :(
I know that there are accessories that solve most of these issues, but then the "ultraportability" is totally lost ;E And where could these accessories be connected with only one usb-port, lol. |
