WoW is both noob-friendly and also hardcore-friendly (endgame raiding)

there is a reason why WoW has almost 10million paid subscribers. not sure if eveOnline has even taht many FREE users?

;)

Because it's easily accessible and not as complex as other games like Eve.

Keep an eye out for "The Agency." It looks like it might be good.

Eve's version of the endgame raiding is 10/10 complexes. Unlike WoW, the location of these complexes change randomly once one is completed. While it's fun in a Pokemon sort of way to collect them all, in the end, it is shallow. One little known yet better appeal about Eve compared to WoW is that the players in Eve design the game along with the publisher, CCP. Blizzard has always been in the driver seat for WoW and the players get whatever they decide. In Eve, many game designs and functionality have came from players. Eve players get to shape universe, and the game has came a long way in five years, and there is more to come.

I love how WoW fans use subscription numbers as evidence to a better game. That's like saying having a top 40 pop song makes a song better. As TAs, we all know that's no true. Same goes for games. WoW is the most commerically successful game ever. Props to Blizzard for filling that niche but does that make it indicative of a superior game? I dare say not. Eve has the better community, better graphics, most pioneering design in terms of unique gameplay. Sure it has a steep learning curve if one wants to be good at it but so does chess. And being good at Eve or having the biggest, baddest ship and equipment does not make a character in Eve ultimately does not matter. The beauty of Eve is the game allows room for a person to be a complete noob for the rest of his life and have as much fun. It is what you make out of it.

As an ending note, soon Eve will have avatars like WoW that can walk around stations. Here is the video:

Is that the one from the makers of Everquest?

Scott.. have you even tried WoW end game raiding? if not your argument is pointless.

getting together with 24 other guys wiping over and over again to lady vashj or Sunstrider and finally defeating them after 100 wipes is no cakewalk but one of the most thrilling experiences ever. how can you say that the game is shallow when you havn't even played pve raiding hardcore.

Dear Porky, you know I have never had a WoW account and I know you've never had an Eve account. I, however, have been next to friends who raided these big bosses in their 20+ man gangs. I'm sure you can't say the same about Eve because you would not be trying to compare the level of intensity between the two games. Let me put it into perspective for you.

At the end of the day, failing to complete a raid against a computer boss results in getting no epic equipment and 4 hours wasted. Boo-hoo. The fleet fights I've participated in dwarfs your 24 man parties by 20 times that number. That's 200 real people clashing against 200 other real people resulting in many billions of losses. In real world terms, that is thousands of dollars lost. This one happened a hours ago: http://killboard.net/fleetbattle/2429/ The loss penalties are higher so each loss is more meaningful. The challenges are greater because it's not some computer boss you've killed for the fifteenth time. I can't begin to explain the adrenaline one feels when so much is at stake. So I do know. I know many people who play it and I've been there first hand. And despite all those thrilling grinds, WoW simply does not compare.

I'm also glad WoW has 62.3% of market share. Having a million players in our single-sharded universe will crash our game.

you know.. maybe we should both try each other's game.

im willing to let eve a try, only if you wear pink this time... ;)

WoW and EVE are entirely different games. Chances are you will both dislike the other persons game. Then again, you may like both.

Tbh, I can not start another game. I already waste enough time as it is playing COD4 and Eve. I'm sure WoW is addicting but I need to avoid it for the sake of my friends, family, and myself.
