Michael Chekhov, Anton Chekhov's nephew, considered a genius by many and Stanslivsky's "most brilliant" student. I wish I saw his performances in Moscow...

my vote goes to:

Edward Norton

edward norton is one of my favorites too. i'm still dumbfounded as to how he didn't win the oscar for american history x.
Chris Crossland

I'd probably go with Al Pacino.

Followed closely by Tom Hanks and Denzel.

But in all seriousness, I dont think anyone can pull off the character in Cast Away other than Tom. Took so much dedication to lose so much weight and he basically acted alone in the movie, and it wasnt boring.Amazing.

watch 'the machinist'. what bale does for that role is borderline insane

Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson, Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Cary Grant

Gregory Peck
