Jack Nickolson definetely at the top 3. Has anyone seen him in One flew over the cuckoos nest.... unbelievable performance.
Also Edward Norton and Al Pacino are up there.

daniel day lewis. i am basing this completely off of Gangs of New York. but i heard he's really good in There Will Be Blood.

edward norton is one of my favorites too. i'm still dumbfounded as to how he didn't win the oscar for american history x.

Yes indeed. Edward Norton chooses his roles very carefully. Besides The Italian Job (which he got forced to do) I don't think he gave a bad performance in any movie that he starred in.

Bale is amazing for what he did for the machinist, an ace film too.

Blood Diamond changed my thoughts on De Cap too, in a good way.

But so far I'm not sure if this has been surpassed:

Some of the most scary/realist acting I've ever seen. Even when just speaking normally saying something that is is "non threatening".... in a word wow!

+1 on Jack Nicholson, Edward Norton, and Brad Pitt.

also Anthony Hopkins & Johnny Depp & Kevin Spacey
