Of course: be unique, be yourself... I think that type of behavior is expected and gives life varied and interesting experiences.

Depp is beyond that though.

He's not Michael Jackson odd, but he is isn't even in the same stratosphere as the rest of us. It's probably the "artists brilliance" that makes him so.

The guy (Williams) might as well have his own private room at rehab (as he is in-and-out so often).

No kidding eh.

(it all makes sense now :toocool: )

I've never seen that though. He is just private, saving his flamboyance for the silver screen.

So would you guys give someone like Christopher Reeves the same respect as say Johnny Depp? Christopher Reeves began donating money and doing philanthropic work for spinal cord injury after his own spinal cord injury. Do you guys consider this as a nice charity act or a selfish act?

Like I personally respect Bill/Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett who donate tons of their time and money for something that doesn't effect them directly.

I give the utmost respect to anyone who cares enough about others to donate time or money or even just help someone across the street.

Well, yes that would be nice too, and yes seemly even more selfless of him, I hardly think bc he did this at a particular hospital that he wanted to show gratitude and thanks to means that we should be critisizing him, and essentailly stating "meh - you could have done better, Johnny Depp"

I'm not criticizing him, he gives more to charity than I do. I'm just saying before everyone starts bowing down to him, we shouldn't forget other people who give to charity not because they feel like they owe something, but just because. It's still good that he donated 2 million to a hospital, and I'm not saying he could have done better, I'm just saying other people DO better, and no one posts about them.

How do you know he doesn't?

He may not try and make a publicity stunt out of every donation he does.

This was a different situation where he donated a large sum of money to the hospital that saved his daughters life.

At least he cares enough to actually donate money. It's not like it's something that he has to do.

You're right, I don't know what he has or has not donated. It's just sad that this particular situation makes the news, just because it has that "awww" factor. His other donations (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt) would have made me think way higher of him.

sorry for using the wrong wording here.

normal is obviously a subjective thing.

Johnny Depp is peculiar, freaky, reclusive, strange, missing a few screws, koo koo! (all in a seemingly harmless kind of way)

none of the above in any way say that i don't love him. but i wouldn't let him watch my house or drive my car or cook me dinner or watch my kids unsupervised (imagine the stuff he would tell them).

I LOVE HIM!
