Let me opress you, your family, and everyone you know for a couple of centuries. Let me take you from your land and force you to work in a foreign continent. Let me give you liberty and then deny you the right to buy a house, the right to get decent education, the access to decent paying job. Let me give you those rights, and then discriminate against you for decades, effectively denying you the rights we have so kindly granted you, and then when you complain, let me tell you with a smile that you are just not trying hard enough. You sincerely think that being sunk in perpetual poverty and being constantly denied access to decent paying jobs and education until very recently doesn't affect people in any way? , you sincerely think they can catch up after being forcefully relegated to where they are for centuries?! Open your eyes, they bear some of the responsibility for where they are, but our society as messed up every time when it comes to their fates. |

I don't think that's what she meant. Your points are valid but I guess what she was trying to say is that all too often people just use it as an excuse. I've seen people do it and they come from a generations rich and prosperous family with no history of slavery, and then they proceed to blame everything on every single white person they meet. Why? Because apparently then can.
Some people just milk it waaaay too much and actually make it a hell of a lot worse for those who truely were and still are affected by the racial divide. |

your right but many many other cultures,races & even genders have been opressed & persecuted over the years while the ones who actually do cry the most are blacks.

Thats the thing. Blacks alot of times like to blame whites as a whole here in the states when slavery wasnt done by anyone in my familys past. Most of my family came from the mediterainian. It was those hillbilly norhthern europeans. :p |

Fair enough, I am in no way justifying the actions of everyone that is labeled "black". But to say that there is a group of people that happen to have dark colored skin that need extra assistance is incorrect. Now, I don't agree with the schools initiative, I think that it is misguided and will be incredibly inefficient. I think schooling is only one part of the problem that keeps poor black people poor. This also extends to other poor people. Child care, help finding a job, community building, and education and support for parents will go a longer way than just lumping all kids with tough situations in special schools. It just pisses me off how some people make sweeping comments about how black people are always just whining and none have a reason to whine. It is also insanely annoying how some people can scream at the top of their lungs how it's all the fault of their music and the culture that has developed in the ghetto, like their culture has nothing to do with the greater culture present in the country and all the circumstances that have lead to this moment.
In any case, the policy is misguided. Not all black whine without reason. Some are just as retarded as other regular people. |

While I am not arguing that other cultures, races and genders have not been oppressed, the circumstances where different, and it all boils down to circumstances with humans. If you want to compare groups, you'll have to be more specific. |
