As a dj, I think (going on the times I've seen him) he is in excellent. As a producer I think he's seen better days.
Dexter and 808 the bassqueen are among my favourite tracks of all time, but I haven't heard anything in the last 2-3 years from him thats grabbed my attention like these tracks.
Also r&r l'essentiall is a solid tune. |

I'd venture a guess that a lot of it has to do with having actually seeing/hearing him live, 'cuz the sets I've heard seem like they'd be great in person, but don't always make for the best bedroom listening. (cue 'goes off great in a club' comments)
...though his Fabric was awesome imo, too. |

Yeah - living in the U.S. that obviously is the biggest problem for anyone trying to get into Villalobos, because you just aren't going to see him - ever - unless you travel out of the country.
And as far as his Fabric disc - I just thought it was boring and uninspired with little to no sense of flow, clearly all matters of personal preference/opinion. |

I hear mixed sounds tho, one says its Villalobos and others say it isnt, weird

| Laurent Garnier did it in the Cloud making machine, then Kollektiv Turmstrasse included kiddish sounds in Grillen Im Park. Seems to be the new cool thing. Positive vibe though. |

Grillen Im Park originally came out a couple years ago, though, iirc. It was on some recent label comp., but it was even before Melodrama, I think. |

I, for one, love this track. I love the bell sample he's using and the way the kids sing. Slamming stuff. |
