I don't see why. Space sims have a huge advantage graphics wise because there is vitually no environment save for a 2d bitmap for a star background. It's just a bunch of models flying around in empty space. They could probably make something that looks almost real and still have less requirements than most modern games.
The problem is that the industry has changed significantly. Unfortunately somewhere down the road game devellopers figured out that you can manufacture a million bland generic cookie-cutter FPS games and people will buy them so long as the screenshots look good. No one wants to risk reviving a dead genre.
I can't remember what was the last good space sim game I played.
Freelancer? It's been that freaking long.

It looks pretty good, but I think one will get bored with constantly using the force to push something into another thing, and a storm trooper through some glass (though that might last more than just an hour of enjoyment, lol) KOTOR imo, is and was the best star wars game yet. Bioware had mentioned working on another one, which I hope will see a release!!

Bioware has not said that. People on the net got all atwitter over a slide in a video, EA came out and said directly that Bioware is not working on a new KOTOR.

I'm pretty sure it was from a short interview from that dork Adam Sessler did when he caught one of the guys from Bioware. It wasn't a real interview, he just happened to catch the guy at one of the gaming conventions. They would be foolish not to release another. never say never. Money talks.

Here you go then:

"The slide in John's presentation is titled 'Best Creative Talent'--it addresses future and past titles. "KOTOR, Black, Boogie, Skate and some other titles on the slide speak to past portfolio releases and the pedigree of the studio but do not specifically address future sequels."
Feel free to follow the source trail yourself if you don't buy it.
Sorry m8, not happening right now.

The good news is that it doesn't mean it won't happen, but with the number of other high profile projects in the hopper at Bioware it might not be all that soon either.
And in the end it's really Lucas who still owns the IP, and who's to say he won't shop new talent for it again?

This thread is making me nostalgic for the first 2 dark forces. [Mostly JK 1] I remember how magical that game was when it first came out.

OMG that star destroyer crash at the end was SIIIICK.

there's another preview that starts with the crash, it's much more impressive in that version! also my favourite part so far is when he picks up a stormtrooper, throws it into the path of an oncoming TIE fighter causing it to crash and blow everything up :D

newish stuff, tho not unseen on many of the newssites:
still looks pretty cool, some of the stuff in the first one is kinda unpolished...but you know how that goes|
