It is time to gracefully embrace the digital file format or your talent and inspiration will slowly dry up coz vinyl is no longer a medium you can rely on on in this regard...
I learned and worked as a DJ when the only medium excepted was vinyl and I know what you are trying to maintain.
Beatport for instance gives you not only 320 mp3 files but also wav. as download option...
Even CDJ's will soon be shrapnel the way things go...
My advise - listen to the down tempo Psy tracks rather then getting put off by the full on stuff for now...
I can provide you with a list of tracks which will assist you rather then you having to scroll to hundreds of samples - can be taxing!
...you further can add:

Awesome, thanks man. I'm playing the after party at La Di Da so if you're there be sure to say hi. While on the boat be sure to check out Chwen, his tunes are mental and he should rock it sideways! |
That is excellent news! See ya there... |

I am trialling a beta of Pacemaker at the moment and I really like the concept of mixing using a DAW platform. Just reading up on Mixmeister - get back to you when I have a better understanding of it.

What I meant was, acceptance wise how would you rate a DJ using a computer doing his real time mixing. Would you sctratch his name from your list of "DJ's to See/Listen" or don't care as long as he/she does a good job.
It's a lot more easier but has its challenges and added benefits such as so called "Harmonic Mixing" etc. In any case instead of dials, knobs or buttons a DJ holding a mouse looks funny. HW interfaces such as ICUE's mix station brings back the "hands on activity" and it is cheap.

I don't care what a DJ does to make me feel good. What you do with your hands is secondary to the processes of your brain...
If I could choose between CDJ's or a virtual solution I'd go for the latter simply because it appears to be the future in every aspect. When the CDJ's came in, the Turntablists freaked and put on a purist kind of attitude but gradually the screaming stopped and the learning process kicked in. Same thing applies with file mixing via a laptop...
Besides the greater flexibility I am interested in the mobility factor and what will emerge in this regard...have you checked out Pacemaker? What do you reckon? |

| Yeah, had a look at their website. Looks like an overgrown Ipod. I don't know the capabilities of it yet but Mixmeister with dual sound card or any other SW based mixing system is the way to go IMO. |

Yes, Abelton is a very good program for sequencing and working on your tracks in a studio even making a mix but are you using it for djing? |
