Not if you pimp it up like they do in Japan
If you live in the city I'd go with the scooter. Parking = too much $$$$, and with this you'd be able to squeeze into spots where you wouldn't be able to with a car.
Plus with the price of gas...you'd def. be saving hella lots. |

actually the city of toronto has a by law that was enacted 4 years ago that permits free parking on streets and even on sidewalks for motorcycles and scooters. |

If you're living downtown, then honestly get a scooter.
I drive my car downtown a lot now, and honestly, IT ING SUCKS. You have to put up with cabbies, pedestrians popping up anywhere, standing in traffic all day long, popos hiding everywhere (not much chance you'll be breaking the speed limit in a scooter, lol), high gas prices, and high insurance costs. But the biggest pain in the ass, by far, is parking. In Toronto, you can't just leave your car anywhere. Anytime you go anywhere, you spend at least 10 minutes just looking for a spot to park. If you found a spot, then 99/100 times, you have to pay for it. And then there are places where it's impossible to find parking at all. And parking tickets are now 30 bucks a pop - that adds up QUICK. |

I would get a scooter to be honest. Never mind what people in here say about them being "gay". My friend has one, and he swears by it. He can ride it 9-10 months out of the year, and it costs hardly any money at all for insurance, and especially gas. Also, you don't have to pay parking, and you can easily weave in and out of gridlock. Scooters cost only a fraction of the cost that cars do.
You can get a nice used one for $2000, or you can get a really pimp one like my friend has for around $5000:
