im cheering Poland (duh!) lol i can't wait to see them play against USA, americans be prepared ;) the match against Portugal is gonna be very hard to win, portugeese are un-predictable at this point...

Any true football fan would realise that FIFA World Rankings mean absolute . :)
That's because these rankings are determined predominantly through the number of matches a team plays.
If a country chooses not to engage in friendly matches, then their FIFA ranking would be expectedly low. Does that mean, for example, a country like Colombia (who won a second rate Copa America in 2001 as all teams sended virtually their second stringers) is superior to a country like Italy, Portugal, or even Croatia, all the way down in 23rd place?
FIFA rankings should be scrapped. Obviously the fudge factors involved in making the positions respectable in the rankings are not enough to reflect the true quality of the sides.

the fifa ranking are based on matches played over several years... its not a chart based on the performance of a given team in a given month. off course if a team wins a tournament, they win more points but the opposite is true... so its not columbia's fault if let say brazil chose not to fully participate...
it is an index of the general performance of a country over several years, maybe it could not be exact for let say the past months, but it gives us a damn good picture of every country, france wouldn't be #1 for nothing (1998 w. cup AND 2000 euro cup)

| ya i get your point man...but i really find it hard to believe that USA is actually #13 :rolleyes: no fence to the american's, but you guys do suck at soccer, but thats becuase its not your national sport...other countries such as Romania or Cameroon should be in that spot, coz they are really strong teams :) and over the several years, what did the USA actually win? lol like i said...politics involved here :rolleyes: |

And I hope you get the crucial point regarding the rankings...
They are not a true reflection of a team's quality.
