Well im sure the vanguard owner takes all your commands for staffing as gospel. So while you are at it, do something about the DJ set up.

They need to change the floor lay out. Lose that weird dungeon bull along the wall and seriously get away from that weird space that surrounds the DJ leading to the back patio that becomes an unbearable cluster .

So, what do you feel makes vanguard the best venue in LA? I want to hear what it is that when i walk into Vanguard that i am missing so that i dont hate ever minute of it like i usually do. Because to me, layout and comfort are very important to making a venue really great.

Well the fist thing I wanna disagree with you on is their security I have gone there literally 12 times in the past 5 months and they are real nice as long as you are respectful they will pat u down just for your own safety not to be a bitch they dont want people bringing guns inside is that really bad?? They also dont want people blocking ways also for your safety all clubs have a few security guards but Vanguars isnt that bad... Ok the lay out I dunno man it doesnt bother me that much it seems real good and one real good thing about vanguard is that its biggggg and it never gets too hot where u are sweating and the Patio is def the best in LA... Ok now to what I do agree with you toooo packed yes but put it this way if it was your club it would the same way you are there to make money and the more people inside means more cashhh so as consumers we hate it but if we were on the other side we would be all for it... The sound system is awsome and I am not the only one that says this they use a Funxion one or whatever and its the best sound system made the stage well long timee ago it used to be up by the Vip terrace upstairs but really if its there you cant see the dj and get all into it most people like that to see the dj it pumps them up...

Vanguard has a horrible DJ set up. The security ing blows. The bartenders are . Their CC policy is f-ed up. The sound system is powerful but far from being controlled at a reasonable level. The lighting rig is impressive only to a certain point then it becomes too bright or mostly goes unnoticed. Take out all the controllable factors that could be solved by simply firing everyone and replacing them with competent people and you still have just an OK venue. When they build a reasonable stage for the DJ that isnt just "cool kid" hang out spot then I will give Vanguard another look from a design perspective. Right now DJ placement is ty.

Granted. Avalon is not a good club venue. Its a freakin theater. No argument there.

Circus is the best real club venue in Los Angeles. Same deal here. Replace all the controllable factors and you have one of the last real night clubs left in this city.

i definitely agree that in terms of the large clubs, as a venue, circus is the best.

it doesnt talk about talent or sound system, just the venue to me. i do like vanguards patio but one cant beat the convenience of having food being sold nearby, and rest rooms just one step away, etc.

party on!

ps. for smaller venues below 500 peeps, king king takes the cake!:tongue3

Vanguard's bartenders are the worst of their kind. Not only are they slow and ineffective, there're also a good amount of racist loosers among these. Enough said. Other than that, Vanguard is doing great. I only hope when it gets bigger than what it is now, they will move it to some bigger club, like the Mayans or something, where there is enough space for everyone in the crowd.

TSG
The Mayans? hahaha... Why would Vanguard move? Vanguard is the venue! :p

what!? i dont understand. Do you even know the capacity of these clubs?

If Giant got any bigger, the only venue in los angeles that could hold that many people is Circus. But i seriously doubt anyone would ever let dave dean step foot on that property again.
