Résumé advice. (pg. 3)

Thanks for all the input guys - I do realize that I need to tailor each resume to the position it's intended, but I guess I just wanted ideas of where to start.

I'm basically trying to get my personalized "template" (so to speak) resume finished so I can have the necessary information ready to go, and just kind of fill in the subjective "blanks."

:)

To be honest, I always just use the resume wizard that comes with Word. And yes, I used it to get a "real" job, not some ty mall job.

It was all about the cover letter really. Well, that plus my professional profile/portfolio.

Cover letter comment is semi true. But the lazy bastards who'll be looking at it, there will be certain "must haves" they'll need.

What kinda job is it?

I'm applying for both teaching jobs and positions as a research assistant.

And PKC - the teaching jobs I'm applying for are not government jobs, and in general are not the kinds of positions that are filled solely by filling specific requirements. You're probably going to make loads of fun of me (which is fine) - but I'm applying for jobs teaching religious history (Western or Eastern) in the Catholic school system.

So then research the companies/institutions and include relevant experience in your cover letter.

I can send you a copy of my cover letter if you like.

I'll grab the papers for more details when I head home from campus between courses this afternoon, but basically it would be studying the history of Buddhism in India.

I would effectively be staying in a guest house at a monastery near Sravasti for 8 weeks helping a professor do work for a book.

Good luck Rawb. :)

Hmm. I think I've been there. Was ruled by one of Ram's sons. 8 weeks there should be real fun. Good luck.

hey, teaching religious history is at least a ing subject, unlike theology which is just a colossal wank :)

make sure you emphasise the role of catholicism in teen pregnancy and the holocaust :p
