The opening situation was ridiculous. Clovis got there at around 10 or 10.30 to start playing and they didn't even open the doors until sometime after 11. Some hip hop group before hand was supposed to end at 10 and Avalon just didn't get their together.
By the time we finally got in Clovis had been playing for about 40 mins to pretty much no one. They wouldn't even let people up into the terrace, what the hell was that nonsense about? One of the bouncers said it's because they want the main room to fill up more before letting anyone up. Cue about 30 people milling in front of the stairs trying to get up and causing a fire hazard. Bunch of ing nonsense, Clovis and Droog shouldn't have to suffer for the fact that no one wants to listen to DJ Reza. Gross.
Once that was settled and I was actually allowed to go check out my friend, I must say he did extremely well. Really nice vibe he had going on up there even if it was for only an hour (with an actual crowd :p). Avalon just needs to have Droog open the main room more often, that would really solve all those terrace issues. |

heh the guy is mad, his set included tunes from summer and now, over 7 hours all himself, 2 packs of cigs and a dozen bathroom breaks. But once again dj's like steve show you where electronic music begins and ends. |

Despite the issues, I had a great time. Getting two tracks in with DROOG around 4am was awesome.
Set was recorded, I'll post it later. |
